Millie is our star Valentine of the day! 💜 She is a 9 year-ish old boxer. She was brought to a shelter by AC. A neighbor that lived nearby stepped forward and said they had seen her before and knew where she was from. Millie was from a breeding facility and was dumped out on a country road after she know longer could produce. She had been severely neglected and abused. She has issues with women, was very reactive towards any movement, and very food aggressive. Millies gums were grown over her teeth, she had the excess lasered off and some teeth removed. She also had a cancerous mass removed on her wrist and a mamory gland tumor removed. Plus got spayed. Millie has an arthritic hind leg from and old acl tear that was never taken care of. She has scars where chains were on her neck. She was quite food aggressive as well. Millie had pure sweetness in her heart, you could see it. She just needed help overcoming her past. The first night Millie was with us, she slept directly on me all night long. She just wanted to be held. With lots of love, reassurance, and bonding time Millie became who she is today. She still has a stubborn streak in her. If some of the dogs get too close in her "bubble" she will snap at them. For the most part she has far surpassed her old life and found who she was meant to be. She is still reactive to shoes, I imagine she was hit with them. She still will duck if you reach over her to grab something, just an old habit to protect herself. Millie may have a bit of baggage but the love she gives far outweighs any of her problems. This girl is trusting, loyal, and a sweet baby. She's goes anywhere I go and just wants to be included. She loves it here. Food, barking at the deer, all the naps she can possibly take, and all the love she can handle. Her stubborness is what kept her alive. I like to think of it as strength now. She will stand next to you and take love and hugs for as long as you give. Her love tank never fills up! We love you, Millie. Glad you are finally home!!! She's one of our many Valentine's!!!💗💗💗 #milliedillie #seniorboxer #boxer #oldboxer #boxer #endbackyardbreeding #endanimalabuse #notyourpaycheck (at Whispering Willows Senior Dog Sanctuary)
