This is going to be a long rant. I'm confused on how ppl are suddenly so happy that hori is involved in last season and it somehow would "save" the ending and "he's on our side"? Are we forgetting he's the same person who wrote that ending and sidelined Katsuki and treated him like a side character instead of the deturgenoist, gave him half a chapter as conclusion that wasn't even about him, didn't treat bkdk as the main duo nor let them have a private talk and instead dedicated 3 chapters to ochacko staring at air and crying and ended the 429 with iz//ch having the duo talk and portrayed them as the main duo last minute? Same hori who suddenly pretended ochacko and Izuku are the only ones who went to war and through sth? And when he got a chance to write about sidelined characters like Katsuki and shoto and even Izuku's trauma or him thinking about his career path, he didn't bother. 431 was once again about ochacko.
Same horikoshi who didn't let Izuku have any response or feelings to Katsuki's sacrifice, apology, or each time Katsuki put his life in danger to save izk's life for the 26272 times, or when he saw his corpse (literally never even checked up on Katsuki even though he saw his lifeless body). Same horikoshi who didn't let izk do any of that but made him worry about ochacko and shoto and check up on them and go thank ochacko for a 10 minute speech THRICE and called her his hero for her stopping him from tripping in season one..so Katsuki sacrificing so much and saving Izuku multiple times in life and death situations didn't get any acknowledgement, eri harming herself to bring Izuku's arms back was never talked about, but ocha preventing him from tripping and helping/supporting him in some light school work (literally like what any other 1A character did with izk) suddenly turned her into his hero.
That's horikoshi who wrote all this, in his interviews he admitted his editors were hesitant but it was him who convinced them. (for example when he decided to kill toga, sth everyone claimed he did it because he was censored, he admitted it was his own idea and he convinced the editor). Jump didn't censor him either, in fact, jump would have loved horikoshi to give more scenes to bkdk and bkg because they exactly know what has money in it. They're still making merch out of the "their feelings became one" scene but no merch from that other pairing. Jump literally made a video before 431, portraying bkdk as the main duo (what they have always been) and Katsuki as someone who supports and protects izk's dream. But horikoshi called ochacko his hero because in season one she prevented his tripping and had a 10 minutes speech in season 6. All Katsuki's support and sacrifices? Nothing to be talked about in hori's eyes just hahaha either gag moments or just pick it as atonement for sth he did in middle school.
And to add, bones actually treated Katsuki and bkdk better than horikoshi lately. Hori didn't let izk has any response to Katsuki's sacrifice to the point bones felt awkward and created the PTSD scene to imply "the reason he didn't talk about it was because of his trauma and he's trying to forget about it." it was really good. t was that easy, Horikoshi could have just done it in one panel but refused to. another example is when in locker room Katsuki is screaming and challenging shoto, and bones added this: Izuku looked at him and laughed sweetly at him like he's adorable. The Izuku in horikoshi's manga stopped to be this affectionate or responsive towards Katsuki, because last minute horikoshi wanted to push a certain agenda. And when ppl stopped giving mha franchise money, he quickly gave so much bkdk content in fan book and art book (which wouldn't get animated) to make them love mha again.
Same horikoshi who was involved in movie 4, tried to push iz//ch a tiny bit there and once again made Katsuki this character that don't have any personal thing going on with him and only is there for deku (meanwhile if you followed his character before the final arc you'd know he's so much more). With izk not responding to anything relating to him, again. At some point it looked like Katsuki was talking to a wall. Why you don't let your mc express his feelings? Why would you stop giving him an introspection, sth that made him so lively. Idk why horikoshi suddenly was doing this but it genuinely ruined mha for me. And don't even try to say it was because of his trauma, Horikoshi proved once again he doesn't care about it.
In conclusion, with all the stuff I said, I trusted bones to handle the ending better, multiple minds that can see flaws in the story and fix them. But horikoshi getting involved would take away this chance, 431 and one-shot clearly showed he still can't see what the problem was with the story. And I'm not only talking about bkg, deku, or bkdk. He tried to fix everything the loudest crowd was mad about (for example: izk "getting the girl" because of all the noise disgusting cuck memes made or just drawing bkdk patrolling with shoto because bkdks stopped buying merch, etc). He probably is going to add stuff that don't matter and won't change anything because he can't see the basis of the problem, this is his own series after all and you sometimes can't be the best critic of your own book.
