Madison speaks to me about her experiences in French Camp Academy in Mississippi. She recalls her experiences with sexual, physical and spiritual abuse. How she and her sister were in need of a stable family environment after becoming homeless and alone, without legal guardians to protect them. And so they were taken to this “troubled teen” facility by their grandparents. A religious commune that appears to use child labour and extreme punishment under the guise of religious justification. Absolutely honoured to have had the chance to collaborate with Rebecca and Caroline recently and chat to them at length about the new podcast from @parishilton and @iheartmediaofficial called ‘Trapped in Treatment’ - an expert led, deep look into the Troubled Teen Industry. Here is a snippet of Caroline’s story. A survivor of a spin-off ‘Provo Canyon School’ programme. Caroline was silenced once before. Now she uses her experiences and expertise as co-ceo of @unsilenced_now - dedicated to ensuring that NO SURVIVOR of institutionalised abuse through the “troubled teen” industry ever goes silenced again. Caroline now uses the power of her voice. And she cannot and will not be stopped. Rebecca has been swept up into the world of activism and legal reform - as appointed impact producer for Paris Hilton, she is paving the way for all survivors to have their evidence presented before senators and state and federal judges and the US legal system. Rebecca also cannot be stopped. For almost 2 years, the cult vault podcast has dedicated hours of time to ensuring survivors have a platform to share their experiences. And this will not end.
