13 reasons why & Jungian Psychology & MBTI
Hannah personality type seems to be ENFP, not INFP.
Her goal is to reach her idea Ne and the auxiliary function Fi is supporting the Ne vision making it coming from heart and creating an idea of romantic, true love. Whether the person is ENTP or ENFP can be distinguished by (among others) exactly how idea is created, what supports that. Is it heart and feelings (values etc.) or thinking and interest (wow that is cool, let’s go and test it out). Another way would be to say that Ti makes Ne dominant user being interested in something, and Fi makes him fascinated about something / placing hopes into something / having expectations from something as beliefs that that Ne vision will come true. ENTP user will not be disappointed with reality when trying to implement idea. ENTP goes and finds the way to make Ne true against difficulties. ENFP fights demanding, sharing feelings and leaves with heart broken if nobody cares. It can be love. ENTP will try to fix relationship, and will realize easier it is time to go if fixing isn’t working. ENFP will understand others motives, will see that a person does not want to meet his expectations, will see the nature of the person. This is why it is harder (as talking about feelings and love) to move on and forget, throwing experience into Si - possibly becoming fixating over it as it is inferior (which we can see in the show, Hannah brought up things and recorded ‘everything’ on tapes. why not EVERYTHING? Well, that is because of Fi. She gave HER truth Te coming from Fi (Te 3d, after Fi)). ENFP will see what is behind actions of another person not in logical sense, but what is coming from heart. If that is something that is against Ne + Fi imagination (Fi makes reality skewed), ENFP looses spark, gets more and more broken.
In Hannah’s case we definitely see Fi associated with Ne. Why not INFP though? INFP’s goal would be to create Ne from Fi that is already there (although often not well understood). Hannah was looking for Fi with her Ne, was using Fi to get Ne. INFP will use Ne as mean of expression for their Fi. They don’t produce Fi reality. They produce Ne (expression) for Fi. The problem that INFPs often have is that they can’t define what form of expression they want, so they shift between different forms, different Ne. Fi stays the same, it is a hero. Hannah’s Ne was the same. She wanted love and connection. She knew what she wanted. She just didn’t know how to get that. So she was allocating her Fi in different ways: different people, poetry.
Parent function is what can be unstable. ENFP will be changing how he feels about things, all to get Ne met (love in Hannah’s case). ENTP will be changing how he thinks about things to solve problem in a creative way. INFP will be coming up with different forms of expression Ne to make Fi satisfied. INFJ will be shifting between people (? this I don’t understand) to get their own personal long term vision met (e.g. understand better with Ti to help them Fe somehow in long run Ni, or to just create long term community with them). ISTJ will be working to feel safe, have stability and gain skills Si, INTJ will be working to grow and develop himself in long term etc etc. That would lead to inspirational 4th function making him fulfilled. Or shadow functions making him (ideally) wiser.
About Hannah it seems clear now. Si use when carefully recalling painful memories wishing to not be forgot and wanting others to know her life story Fi + Si. INFP would like to achieve something big Te giving others rules / solutions on something that was important and came from various Ne knowledge (Robert Greene perfect example).
I don’t quite get XNXJs. Do they want being famous / widely known because of Te or Fe? It is like doing a lot so that eventually someone would notice them / make room for them?
