A 26 year old japanese engene known as 'Mina' or 'sweeter_nk' on X has taken their own life in the last 24 hours due to online harassment.

context – Mina who had been an engene for about 6 years attends many concerts and fansign events of Enhypen. It was safe to say that she enjoyed being their fan and supported them very much.

At a concert, She threw flowers on stage that was meant for Sunoo and Niki. (Many fans bring items in pieces of two like matching accessories or gifts so that they can see cute interactions between those two members and sunki was a very popular duo amongst the enhypen members.)

Sunoo noticed them first and picks up those flowers when Mina tells him to give those flowers to Niki. You can imagine the outcome of this interaction being how sunoo gives a flower to niki > niki gets surprised > they share a cute moment.

Sunoo misunderstood her or I think Niki was busy with something else so her wish wasn't fulfilled by the end of the day. It was valid for her to feel upset or embarassed after the whole interaction.

Many engenes took this situation way out of context and started criticising her for her alleged unethical behaviour and favoritism. Fans researched on her and hated her for some other things too.

The below are some light side of the hate she got, I would not suggest you to look at the more serious ones.

She came out with an apology on X but people still kept hating her and infact it was even worse.

She recieved DEATH THREATS.

Literal death threats to someone who just wanted a healthy interaction between her idols.

She goes on live and cries. She says there is no fun anymore and that she can't take it anymore.

She proceeds to take some p*lls that affected her health on that live. Even then the comments stated–

"not u crying and taking pills on LIVE bye"

"Why r YOU the one crying hello"

After everything, her friend confirms her death caused by sh.

My condolences to her and her loved ones :(

I would just like to say that Kpop is REALLY not that serious, Its just music and fanservice and overworked people behind the scenes.

Harrassing someone and holding them accountable for such a small reason is honestly sick.

This is not about ot7 and ot6 anymore.

Its about basic humanity which most of yall don't have these days.

Imagine being the reason someone decided to believe that dying was better for them. She was also someone's daughter, someone's friend, someone's relative, someone's something.

Imagine the idols waking up to this news and realising their misunderstanding was one of the reasons this has happend.

Everything is a mess now. I've left being an engene long ago and its clear that the company does not give a fuck too.

Why is it so hard to find basic human decency?

I've been an ENGENE since around ENHYPEN's debut, and I never thought I'd feel this embarrassed and conflicted about calling myself one.

Watching everything that's happened with Mina has honestly been heartbreaking to see.

She was a 26-year-old fan who loved ENHYPEN, just like the rest of us. Regardless of how anyone felt about the situation, nothing, 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, justifies the amount of harassment, bullying, doxxing, and hate she reportedly received.

I've found myself saying I'm "a fan of ENHYPEN" more than "I'm an ENGENE" lately, because parts of this fandom have become so incredibly toxic that it's hard to associate myself with it sometimes.

That's a painful thing to admit after supporting ENHYPEN for so long, but it's the truth.

And before anyone twists my words: I know it's not all ENGENEs. I've met so many genuinely kind, funny, and supportive people in this fandom. This post isn't about them. It's about the people who think hiding behind a screen gives them the right to dehumanize someone over a mistake, a misunderstanding, or simply because they don't like them.

As fans, we constantly talk about protecting ENHYPEN's mental health, but what about protecting each other's?

Why has it become so normal to dogpile another fan until they're treated like they aren't even a person anymore?

As a minor, seeing all of this has genuinely scared me. Fandoms are supposed to be a place where people come together because they love the same artists. Not somewhere people are bullied, threatened, and torn apart.

I don't know everything Mina was going through, and I won't pretend I do. But I do know that no one deserves the kind of harassment she reportedly endured.

Please remember that there is a real human being behind every account your talking to.

Be kind. Hold people accountable without becoming cruel. And never forget that the person on the other side of the screen has feelings too.

I’m sad for the lost of Mina’s life.

And I’m angry at anybody who participated in causing her to end it all.

Mina is probably a girl like all of us, I saw pics of her with her friends and when she graduated, and when she went to enhypen concerts.

She was a beautiful girl with dreams and passion and love for enhypen, like all of us.

I hope that next time, we look for each other, and protect each other.

Because Mina probably just needed someone to tell her don’t do it. To stop and close the live and have a good night sleep , to not care about these jealous para social parasites, and maybe she’ll feel better.

But she was surrounded will vultures, and we left her alone.

Leave enhypen out of this, this is the cyber bullies fault.

And I hope that no more things like this happens again. I hope.
