Thinking about an angsty EngNor au where they get together at the back end of 2019 and find their sweetest most tender moments rising in the english countryside during the pandemic. But Arthur is a fundamentally different person when he's isolated in nature to him in his everyday life. And whilst this lifestyle is fine for Arthur for a little while, I dont think he could ever truly settle down in it, at least not until he's a lot older. He needs some chaos and mess in his life in a way he refuses to admit. And Aksel is slowly beginning to feel trapped. And for a while they bring themselves even closer in love by bonding over the mutual agreement they're happy but they need something more. Arthur needs a lifestyle that can keep him on his toes & Aksel needs to travel and explore the world alone sometimes.
And eventually the pandemic ends and Arthur immediately goes back down to London and Aksel immediately goes back up to Norway. And when they meet up again it slowly starts dawning on them that maybe they arent actually all that compatible. And everytime they hit rough patches they run back to that same old countryside house. Back to when their relationship felt so fundamentally right. But they cant live that life forever. Aksel has to get out of england spend so much time alone and Arthur cant deal with someone who cant stay with him and provide both chaos but also peace and comfort. They end up hitting some kind of slump, Arthur begins to just settle for this relationship he isnt happy in, slowly beginning to resent Aksel. And Aksel became so accustomed to feeling numb before he met arthur, he doesnt realise the issue when he slowly starts to feel numb with arthur. Eventually he realises he never cared enough about romance to justify staying when he could just... be alone?
