Some people think Antinous dying first was a wasted opportunity. Since it could have been fun seeing him fight a rematch against Telemachus or have him have a legit fight with Odysseus.

But I am NOT one of those people. Antinous was and always will be a cowardly bitch. He picked on Telemachus, he planned to steal and take. Those are not the actions of a warrior, they are the actions of a cowardly animal. He was put down like a rabid dog. Because THATS what he deserved.

And in truth, I heard the earlier draft where Antinous somehow survived and jumped Odysseus. And in truth, it sucked. It felt forced and it made no sense that a man that ONE V ONE Poseidon and Won, would be caught lacking against Antinous.

Odysseus was on that ruthlessness kick. He was going for kill shots.

So yes, Antinous went out like he deserved. He died yapping about claiming something he had no right to.
