The most EPIC weekend ever!
Alriiiiiiight my faithful readers! I am back from ACE Comic Con and I have met the EVER lovely Taron Egerton and let me tell you, it was the most brilliant, perfect, epic weekend I have ever had in my life.
Where to even begin? I had the greatest time meeting up with Miriam @mairyleo and Angela @bruno-rami-taron-oh-my and Sandy @taronscougarfan! Let me tell you, these ladies are my total ACE gang for life. We were already fast friends and kindred spirits but this weekend sealed our friendship for forever.
I have laughed more than I think it’s a right to laugh - my abs actually hurt now! And the weekend was incredibly validating and I met so many incredible people and had the time of my life.
So if you’ve been wondering what I look like in real life, here I am!
I feel like I redeemed myself from my first experience at ACE Comic Con in Seattle at the end of June - I had a great time on that trip but I was intimidated and anxious and didn’t speak up or ask for what I wanted in my op with Taron.
So I made sure to change all of that and I went in full of confidence and joy and it made a massive difference in the experience. I’ve done a LOT of growth in the past 5 months in claiming my space and not apologizing for who I am, and I can tell you right now I experienced and enjoyed the full effects of being who you were truly meant to be. I cannot tell you how many people came up to me, commented on my amazing pins, told me how much they loved my jacket, my friends and my photo ops went semi-viral in the fandom, and we just could not have asked for a better experience.
Like how perfect is THIS?! I am SO incredibly happy with these photos! Taron is absolutely light and life and all that is joy and happiness. Every story you hear about him is true - he is as sweet and kind and thoughtful and generous of soul and spirit as he is ridiculously talented and handsome! I wanted to be fun in my op and I think we accomplished that!
Miriam and I did poses from Honky Cat while I asked Taron to do the pose from the beginning of Pinball Wizard. It was PERFECT because he really went for it. We had NO idea his shirt had ridden up like that until we picked up our photo but we were retweeted and reposted on IG like crazy. We became semi-ACE Famous. It was amazing! Angela and I felt that there wasn’t enough Robin Hood love out there, so Taron was totally game ... and even without a real bow he’s still GOT it! He looks like the master and we the lowly novices! Haha. I love his face - He is SO incredibly expressive and game for whatever fans wanted to do [within reason, of course]! After doing pic after pic all weekend we wanted to make sure that he could just have some fun with us!
So to my ACE Gang, you are totally amazing people, and I love you for it!
And finally, to make a long post even longer, I finally and truly had the chance to tell Taron how important Rocketman has been for me and my personal growth and how I’ve been able to step out of my own shadow and how much his work matters to people, and I even managed to make him and the room of ACE handlers and fans crack up laughing. It was brilliant. I’ll tell you that story if you ask!
Stand up, claim your space, be who you were meant to be, and believe me, it will come back to you in ABUNDANCE. I feel like my friends and I put a lot of our hearts out on that floor and it became a perfect weekend. So sorry this is long, but I had to get it out there as best I could. My heart is so, SO happy right now!
