ikkaku, bepo, penguin, shachi— continuity begone: episode 1011 (spoilers for episode 1012 prob.)
So, episode 1011 starts off okay. Fairly faithful to the manga with Onigashima being lifted by Kaidou, and the Hearts in the submerged Polar Tang being affected by the fallout.
But remember how our favourite first mate and navigator disappeared in episode 997?
Maybe it happened because Toei transported Bepo, Shachi and Penguin back to the Polar Tang for episode 1011.
Gonna be awkward for episode 1012 (see below, poss spoiler), or maybe they’ll just not care, cos the Hearts are our heroic band of normals and they can’t tell one from the other.
BUT, the bear is kinda memorable.
And that’s not all. Toei changed the basic attitude of the crew at this time and storyline.
Like, I don’t care that they’re medics before being fighters, but they are fighters. I think Toei just reused a still from somewhere.
And what’s worse, where the hell is Ikkaku!
Like, maybe all the female Hearts got too much screen time or something. Ah.
