#eric deserved better

I just wanna say that I do love Eric/Donna. But there is one instance where I’ve seen that practically every one believes Donna was right, and Eric was wrong to be upset. And thats when Donna left Eric waiting for her after the concert for hours. And didn’t even didn’t even feel bad about it, and even said that she shouldn’t have to be sorry. Now while I can agree she shouldn’t feel bad about doing the interview, I do think she should’ve felt bad about keeping him waiting and I think it’s very telling that she didn’t feel bad about that.

Anyways before this ask gets too long, what do you think? Was Eric wrong and Donna right, or was Donna wrong and Eric right?

This particular situation is a little nuanced imo.

Donna definitely wasn't wrong for going to meet Ted Nugent. It was a big opportunity and Eric would've definitely been happy for her.

However, what was wrong, was that Donna didn't let Eric know that she couldn't be there. If she had, I know for sure Eric would've understood, but she didn't say anything.

Not only that, but she legit admitted that she wasn't sorry for ditching him. Donna even goes as far to basically say that open communication only applied to people that are married.

Donna: I didn't ditch you! This was Ted Nugent, this was a huge opportunity for me! So come Monday I don't have to just talk about the farm report, I could talk about the interview. Like an interviewer. Eric: Well, you know what Donna? All I can say is that my Mom would never bail on my dad like that. Donna: Yeah, but their married. Eric: Okay, okay, let's just forget it. You're sorry, everything's fine. Donna: I never said I was sorry. Eric: But, you are right? Donna: I shouldn't have to be.

(Even looking at this makes me mad tbh. Shows Donna's view on relationships.)

Donna literally stands Eric up with no warning, makes excuses, and admits that she isn't sorry.

Basically, Donna was wrong for not telling Eric she couldn't make and for acting like she didn't do anything wrong for standing him up.

Was just listening to Mary on a Cross and i realized something

Still thinking about how the book was like "people are just people, even when they're demons (but people in power are often huge jerks)" and then the show replaced that with "the david tennant demon is special and not evil and gross like other demons, you can tell because he doesn't have a skin condition" and like why

No one really speaks about this but honestly Season 8 (and season 7 highkey) did Donna dirty too.

She should’ve went to college (majoring in journalism, with a minor in English/Women studies bc THATS THE DONNA I KNOW) after Eric left because she made it clear (constantly) that the only reason she was staying in Point Place was for him and their relationship (which was stupid but hey it was still IC bc she’s young and in love and let’s be honest her parents don’t give the best advice)

If she was behaving IC, she definitely would’ve called Hyde out on his stripper BS like she’s done time and time before. Donna would’ve treated Sam in the same way she treated Annette, with annoyance and vieled disgust. She wouldn’t make friends with her nor would she have discarded Jackie the way she did.

PLUS Donna has been shown to have a high moral compass (it can be annoying at times but it’s what makes her, her) so I’m telling you as soon as she got wind of Hyde marrying someone who wasnt Jackie (bc let’s remember the last time they really spoke, that was his intentions) SHE WOULDVE HIT HIM IN THE EYE

That Randy bs?? Nope it wouldn’t have happened, bc while Donna does like male attention, she has made it clear time and time again that she doesn’t need a relationship to be content. I truly believe she’d learn from the Rebound Casey incident and focus on herself, and her wants. (HELL SHE GAVE THIS ADVICE TO JACKIE)

In conclusion, Season 8 showrunners ruined Donna because they had such a hard on for torturing Jackie. In character Donna would’ve applied to college, called her friends on their shit, and focused on herself. She wouldn’t have moped around and went on the rebound just because Eric left, no she would’ve put on her big girl bell bottoms and chase her own dreams.

In further conclusion, fuck season 8.
