Exégesis. Espresso and Filter.

There are blends built for convenience. And there are blends built around a question. Exégesis is the second kind.

The name comes from the same place as the brand — from the act of interpretation. Of reading something carefully until it gives up what it was hiding. That's what a blend is, at its core: a reading of several coffees at once, looking for the argument they make together.

Exégesis brings together four origins — Nicaragua, Colombia, Kenya, Brazil — processed between washed and natural. The cup score sits at 88. The price range runs from 18 to 67 euros depending on format.

We've been running it through two very different brewing methods, and the results have been consistent in the best way.

On filter, the blend opens up. The washed components from Nicaragua and Colombia carry the structure — clean acidity, defined body, clarity in the mid-palate. Kenya adds edge. Brazil rounds the base. What you get is a cup that holds together across a wide range of extraction variables. Forgiving in the right places, demanding in the right ones.

On espresso, a different argument. We pulled it on our La Marzocco Strada at 35-second extractions. The shot development at that timing was exceptional — full, dense, with the kind of texture that confirms the blend was designed and not assembled. The natural component from Brazil does its work here: it gives body without obscuring the more complex notes from the washed origins. The result is an espresso that works equally well as a straight shot or under milk.

Exégesis is a permanent product. Not seasonal, not a limited run. It will evolve as the harvest cycles of its component origins rotate, but the argument it makes will stay the same.
