Hisoka's preferred way to fish was to walk into the river and grab a fish with his bare hands. It was faster that way, and he could pick and choose the best fish and catch it. But Gon was passionate about his fishing so he let the excited boy "teach him" how to fish his way. They waited around for hours around the big lake, but to no avail.
"Gon-kun," Hisoka said, trying to keep his voice in its typical sing-song tone, "We've been here for a while..."
Apparently the impatience and boredom came through in his voice, try as he might to cover it up. "Hisoka, you can't be impatient about fishing!! Something will bite, I know it!" Gon lectured Hisoka on the importance of patience, though Hisoka knew full well how to be patient. If he didn't, Gon's body would probably be strewn across the island... He suppressed his homicidal side with a shiver, and gave Gon a smile instead.
"Well, Gon, I'm getting hungry... if we don't catch something soon, I might have to eat you!" He giggled and tickled the boy, who flailed around in a fit of laughter.
"Hisoka, you're funny. Killua says you're scary and I should stay away from you, but I know you're my friend! You're just a little weird, is all."
"A little weird?!" Hisoka repeated, incredulous. "Why, I never. What exactly is that supposed to mean, Gon?"
Luckily for Gon, a big fish bit at that moment, so he was saved from explaining as they reeled in the monster fish together.
