Elderflower & Grapefruit Bourbon Sour
In our house, which is half Swedish, Midsummer is a big deal. My husband believes it is their biggest holiday, schools are out, the days are super long and summer is stretching out ahead. What a great reason the celebrate, pop on a crown of flowers and make yourself a frothy and delicious Elderflower and Grapefruit Whisky Sour.
I love the frothy smoothness of a whisky sour, the slightly sour taste on your tongue followed by the warming of whiskey down your throat. I have recreated it with grapefruit instead of lemon and elderflower cordial and honey instead of sugar. The taste is slightly different but the sensation is just the same. Yum.
Ingredients
Makes 2 cocktails (for more multiply by the required number)
50ml pink grapefruit juice 1 fresh egg white 4 tsp elderflower cordial 2 tsp honey can be flavoured with elderflower 50 ml bourbon ice cubes
Method
Put all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice, shake vigourously. Strain in to a glass, remove ice cubes, return liquid to the shaker and shake again. Strain into a sour glass over ice. Garnish with edible elderflowers or a slice of grapefruit, orange, lemon or lime. And serve.
Thanks again to Maddocks Farm Organics for helping us with the edible flowers.
Happy Midsummer, stay up late and see the sun rise.

March is the month of Spring and we certainly can't wait so in anticipation our colour of the month for March is bright yet creamy Avocado Green. Some same Avocado Green is the colour of the outside of the fruit but we think it is the light and pretty colour of the inside.

Get the Metal Out
With everyone going mad for metallics this year it isn’t hard to find amazing things for my favourite things post. I love it all and had to edit ruthlessly to come up with my short list so here it is.
I love these modern glass tumblers with gold leaf by Greige Design (also available with a carafe) they make a really lovely gift. They are just one of the many gorgeous things on their website full of metallics. It was hard to choose just one thing.
Sophie Darling scarves and accessories are hand screen printed so each is unique then she adds metallic paints on top of her gorgeous and very complex patterns. The colours are neutral so they look amazing with almost anything.
The Wabi Bone Wallpaper by Calico Wallpapers has a fluid almost lava lamp pattern which makes it very soothing to the eye but with the addition of luxurious gold there isn’t a dorm room in sight.
Christian Louboutin's 'Follies Resille' pumps are a glamorous style you can wear from day to dark. Finished with the unmistakable red sole, this pair is crafted from gold leather and glitter-finished fishnet fused onto sheer mesh.Available at Net-a-porter.com £595
I am desperate for these Ogassian Field Tile Antique Gold Ceramic Wall tiles by Ann Sacks. They could transform any room into a masterpiece. Wow wow.
& Other Stories brass scale necklace is as elegant as it is rock n’roll which is why it is a must have on my Christmas list this year £69.99
For a cheap and cheerful fix, I found these Gold pleated vases at Zara Home, they look fantastic on a table with bright red roses, they come in a variety of sizes and with matching tea light holders. Get them quick as they are now in the sale.
For mega impact this pendant light would be amazing in a double height entrance hallway, a cascade of aluminium discs pierced with a sunray design tumbles from the sky. The Leaf pendant was created by Luum, a contemporary lighting studio dedicated to the design, manufacture and delivery of spectacular light installations. This and the house it would look amazing in is what I want for Christmas.
étoile home has lovely patterns in rich deep gold, that would compliment any of the lovely things featured here. Imagine our Hopi napkins in gold with the Zara vase on your table this christmas? Our wash bags do have a shiny brass zips, does that make them eligible for this page. You decide?
Just a few of the many beautiful things in shades of metallic that you can decorate yourself and your home with this season. Happy shopping.
