I've never seen Hotel Transylvania...

But dang if I don't enjoy Eunice Stein.

I dig the Peg Bundy big-hair and leopard print thing, I dig a gal with a nasal New Yaaawk affect, disapproving types, monsterwomen, it's a whole package.

So when I decided to try out making a LORA on civit.ai, she seemed like a good low-stakes test project.

I used about 80 or so pics, a mix of screenshots from the films and animated series, plus some extras I made using Vidu's ref2vid system. Cropped, inpainted/outpainted, and upscaled the pics, kept some on their base backgrounds, others set against black or white backgrounds, or new backgrounds, some done both ways. The intent is to reduce the number of non-Eunice, repeating concepts in the dataset.

The result was a stack of 1x1, 3x2 and 2x3 reference pics. Examples:

That I tagged extensively using Taggui. I tried to get as many angles and expressions as possible, including wild takes.

Training the model

Trained it with 20 epochs and 1200ish steps (On the left, Epoch 12, on the right, final model with full prompt). Civit.AI's system for LORA training is pretty easy to use, though the auto-tagger was down for the count when I made this one.

The training process took about six hours.

There were a couple of existing Eunice LORAs, but neither were for Illustrious (my model of choice), and they weren't great at capturing a canon or canon-adjacent face style.

The model still isn't perfect. I'll probably do a more thorough tagging for facial expressions and include more wild takes in a future version for more flexible expressions.
