Sketch for the painting Tecmessa and Eurysaces by Henry Fuseli (1741 – 1825), based on Sophocles' Ajax.
Teucer, Tecmessa, and Eurysaces
I tried a new art style. This definitely took the longest to complete in a while.
The Royal Son
Here's a messy doodle of the nobles' reactions to having their first born son.
Sorrowful Ajax with Termessa and Eurysakes
— Asmus Jacob Carstens
here are some descendants of aeacus i find underrated because they aren’t just peleus, telamon, their sons, phocus, and neoptolemus (so yes this is a list of achilles, greater ajax, and teucer’s secret relatives):
- pylades (yes he’s descended from aeacus via his father strophius, a grandson of phocus. He’s pretty well known but most people overlook his descent from aeacus)
- medon, ajax the lesser’s illegitimate half brother who fought in the trojan war with him. Descended from aeacus via alcimache, his mother and aeacus’ daughter
- alcimache. WHY DONT I SEE ANYONE TALK ABOUT HER YES PELEUS TELAMON AND PHOCUS HAD A SECRET SISTER
- panopeus, member of the calydonian boar hunt and son of phocus and his wife asterodia. He also took part in this campaign against this other kingdom and swore by athena and ares to not lay his hands on any of the loot taken but broke his oath immediately. As a result, his son epeius was cursed to be unwarlike
- crisus, pylades’ grandfather and panopeus’ twin brother. For some reason theres this myth of them fighting in the womb as fetuses
- epeius, architect of the trojan horse. Descended from aeacus via his father panopeus, a son of phocus. I find this super interesting since there was this prophecy that troy would fall to the descendants of aeacus but nobody ever talks about how the guy who literally built the thing that allowed troy to fall was one of them
- aegle, sister of epeius and lover of theseus. Some sources state that theseus left ariadne for her
- eurysaces, son of ajax the greater by tecmessa, a slave he captured during the trojan war
Teucer really can't catch a break
