Why it sucks to be an extrovert #69
Birthdays.
I get upset when people forget it. Facebook wall posts aren’t good enough. Texts are marginally better. I want people to invite me out. I want other people to plan a party for me and have the whole day centered on me like when I was a child.
I hate that I feel this way. It’s stupid. I never remember anyone else’s, I shouldn’t expect anything at all. My birthday is 4 days from Christmas, IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE TO GATHER TWICE IN ONE WEEK, LET ALONE THIS FUCKING WEEK GODDAMMIT. I hate that I felt like I had to bring it up in every conversation I had bc no one knew or remembered.
I turned 30 yesterday and I feel like I’m making an annoyingly big deal out of it and no one cares, or that they think I’m dumb for making such a big deal out of it, or that I’m trying to make them feel guilty for not remembering when I bring it up.
I made a big deal out of insisting I wouldn’t make it to 30 when I was a teenager, y;know, like you do when 30 is 15 years away, so this feels like a Huge Thing™ to me and of course no one knows that why would they know that I haven’t mentioned it in fucking 10 years
I just want to be one of those people who don’t mind when only a few people remember their birthday. I would absolutely love to not give a fuck about it. I live for the day when I’m satisfied with only my family and a couple of friends remembering to say anything.
