Evenson Drops New Video Single “Trading Places"

Rising alternative artist Evenson returns with his new single “Trading Places,” the first release from his forthcoming debut album, due later this year via VERO Music. The track ushers in a new chapter for the Connecticut-born Haitian American artist, one defined by heartfelt honesty, self-reflection, and a renewed sense of artistic alignment.

Built on confessional lyrics, an elegant melody, and richly layered instrumentation framed by framed by a shimmering glockenspiel and grand piano, “Trading Places” captures Evenson at his most vulnerable, yet self-assured, introducing a more intimate sonic palette while maintaining the melodic immediacy that first drew listeners to his work.

For Evenson, the single represents more than just a new release, it marks a personal turning point. “‘Trading Places’ marks a turning point for me as a human being,” he says. “It addresses my shortcomings and acknowledges a deep desire to make amends - with myself and with the people around me. It’s about a willingness to live, and a willingness to love. It feels like the coloring of the heart, like my heart is starting to beat once again. The song is very personal to me because it’s in line with who I am as a person, who I am as an artist, and the themes I carry with me every day.”

The single also signals a broader creative shift for the artist as he begins unveiling his next full-length project. “I’ve decided to put a microscope on myself,” Evenson adds. “I wanted the music to come from a place of catharsis, something honest and lived-in rather than performed. With this new chapter, I wanted people to sit with me first and feel closer to the emotion and the story.”

“Trading Places” follows the breakout momentum of Evenson’s acclaimed 2024 debut EP Sadly, I Still Love You, which established him as a compelling new voice in modern pop. The project’s viral standout “If I Ever Feel Better” has surpassed 600K global streams, while the title track has crossed 430K streams and continues to grow. The EP’s impact extended beyond streaming, landing major television placements including MTV’s Catfish and Paramount’s SkyMed, while his live performances have further cemented his reputation as an emotionally resonant and commanding performer.

With “Trading Places,” Evenson offers the first glimpse into what promises to be his most personal and cohesive body of work yet. It’s a release that reflects both artistic growth and a renewed emotional openness.
