Rhaegar, Viserys and Daenerys are the only children of Aerys and Rhaella who grew to adulthood, their other siblings died young. But, what if all their children lived?

Robert’s rebellion is crushed and the Targaryens still rules the Seven Kingdoms. After the death of King Aerys II, the new king, Rhaegar, pardoned the rebels, including the Lannisters, for their crimes against the Crown.

Rhaegar’s younger siblings and his children knew what he had done. What Aerys had done. Ever since then, they atone for their family’s sins, in their own way, to secure the peace in the kingdom.

But peace is a fragile thing. It takes courage to secure it. It takes wisdom to maintain it. And... winter is coming. Will the Seven Kingdoms unite against the imminent threat to the North before it’s too late?

Headcanons I:

Aerys thought of betrothing Shaena to Rhaegar, but she refused, insisting that she doesn’t wanted an unhappy marriage like her parents. So, she married Daeron, her younger brother, who she has a close relationship with. This prompted Aerys to find a bride for Rhaegar of “proud Valyrian blood”.

Tywin refused the betrothal between his children, Cersei and Jaime, to Oberyn and Elia, because Tywin wanted his daughter to marry Rhaegar.

Tywin proposed a marriage between his daughter Cersei and Prince Rhaegar. Aerys reject the offer rudely, and instead betrothed Rhaegar to Princess Elia Martell, to spite Tywin (because he’s crazy).

In this AU, Rhaegar took advantage of Lyanna and abducted her before she could marry Robert.

When they heard that Rhaegar ran off with Lyanna, they’re enraged. Rhaegar’s younger siblings symphatize with Elia and took turns in taking care of her and her children.

The Targaryen siblings already HATED their father, and later, Rhaegar, for their actions sparked a rebellion.

Robert died in the battle. Lyanna died in childbirth. Elia lives.

Stannis becomes Lord of Storm’s End and Renly as his heir.

Viserys isn’t mad in this story. He has a mother-figure (Shaena) who took care of him, the same with Daenerys.

Viserys, with the help of his older siblings, withstood the abuse he received from his father. He’s suffering from night terrors ever since.

Daenerys is currently chillin’ in Dorne.

Whatever Rhaegar’s scheming (because of his obssession with the “three-headed dragon” prophecy or TPTWP), they always thwarted it in their on way.

They’re DONE with Rhaegar’s bullsh*t and they tolerate his shenenigans when they’re in public.

Next is Rhaegar’s children: Rhaenys, Aegon, and Jon. Yeahhh. Tamzin Merchant is my fancast for Daenerys.

Summary: King Rhaegar invited Jon to the capital. Rhaegar is excited to see him, but his son does not share the same sentiment, but Sansa and Arya talked him out of it.

When the king’s invitation reached Winterfell, Jon declared that he doesn’t want to go. Aunt Catelyn agreed, but Uncle Eddard tells them otherwise.

“Is it really wise to send him there?”

“We have no choice but to obey, he is the king,” he told Jon, the day when they received the letter. “And King Rhaegar is your father.”

“He’s not my father!” Jon yelled, startling the two adults. When realized what he had done, he mutter a quick apology before fleeing to the armory.

He spent his whole afternoon beating a straw dummy with his blunted sword, venting his own anger upon it.

He hated that man.

That man is not his father.

From what history will ever know, that man... his sire, kidnapped and raped his mother. There’s no love between them, and he’s a child born from rape.

Sometimes, Jon hated himself, too.

Lord Eddard, or Uncle Eddard will always be his father, second is his Uncle Benjen, who returned to the Wall a few days ago.

He is already content with his life in Winterfell, yet that man is persistent to interfere in his life.

He vehemently refused the king’s invitation until Arya and Sansa talked him out of it.

Arya treats him as an older brother, like how she would treat Robb and Theon. But Sansa on the other hand, treated him differently. They were close, but there’s still some distance between them.

Jon finally agreed to go south, because how could he refuse?

They both wanted to know more about King’s Landing and Queen Elia and her children, Princess Rhaenys and Prince Aegon. When it come to those three, Jon couldn’t help but to feel pity... and anger, not for them, but for the humiliation they were put through.

I guess it’s not so bad. Jon thought. The people loved the queen, her children, and the king’s siblings, but not the king himself.

Jon also thought of not just regaling them with stories, he also thought of bringing them souvenirs, on the way back home. Perhaps a dagger or an expensive silk.

Rhaenys, Aegon, and even Jon, grew to hate Rhaegar when they’re old enough to understand the reason why the people hated the Targaryens.

The children didn’t bother to seek their father’s love and approval because they know it will be futile, and they didn’t want to end up being his pawn.

Jon grew up at Winterfell. He has a close relationship with the Starks, and even with Theon Greyjoy.

Jon visited King’s Landing for a month (to train with Aegon, Rhaenys, and their uncles). He also accompanies Rhaenys and Aegon when they visit the small towns (mostly the orphanage and the tavern).

Septon didn’t accept the annulment between Rhaegar and Elia and his “marriage” to Lyanna Stark (because no one seen it), so Jon is declared as Rhaegar’s bastard son. But Rhaegar gave him the name “Blackfyre” in an attempt to remove the taint of bastardy.

Jon thought that his paternal aunts and uncles, and even Queen Elia will hate him because he is Lyanna’s son, but it turns out they’re not. Only Rhaegar.

Jon hated his name (Jonnel Blackfyre), so he preferred to be called “Jon Snow”. He has a close relationship with his half-siblings.

The children are more Martell and Stark than Targaryen.

Rhaegar thinks they are a disappointment, but that’s only him.

Pairings: Rhaegar/No one, Daeron/Shaena, Jon/Sansa, Viserys/Arya, Ned/Catelyn, and so many others.

Summary: King Rhaegar invited his son, Jon, to celebrate Prince Aegon's nameday.

Daeron

A letter arrived this morning that Prince Jon left Winterfell for King’s Landing to celebrate his half-brother’s, Prince Aegon’s 13th nameday.

His father called him prince and gave him the name “Wolffyre”, despite the Septon’s protest, but the boy vehemently denied his supposed title and birthright and named himself “Snow”, much to the king’s chagrin.

The king’s siblings, however, take pleasure in his sour mood.

Rhaegar’s younger siblings, and even Queen Elia did not blame the boy. According to the rumors, Jonnel already had a bad impression on the Targaryens and he did not want to be involved with the Southern court, or even attend to their celebrations, but he knows the king shouldn’t be denied. The king’s words are absolute.

The carriage with a flapping banner of a grey wolf racing across a field of white, arrived at the capital before noon. Inside the carriage is Lord Eddard, his son and heir Robb, and Jonnel.

Upon seeing Jonnel Snow, Daeron and his siblings straightened suddenly, with a look of shock crossing their features. Indeed, the rumors are true.

Jonnel, or Jon, does not have any “fire and blood” on him, he’s all “winter is coming”.

Much better.

Rhaegar, who’s at loss for words, muttered “Lyanna”, much to the boy’s displeasure.

After a brief moment, Jonnel bowed and finally speak, in his cold, monotonous voice. “Greetings, Your Grace.”

He called King Rhaegar, Your Grace not father. The boy clearly didn’t want to acknowledge the king as his father.

King Rhaegar is startled of his son’s cold and cautious demeanor, but Daeron and Shaena, could see right through him. He considers himself a wolf trapped in a dragon’s den. And to him, the dragon is a symbol of evil.

Daeron cannot blame the boy. After all, it was his family who started this damned rebellion which claimed thousands of lives, including the boy’s mother.

Despite the uneasy atmosphere between the dragons and the wolves, Queen Elia smiled warmly and greeted the boy. And upon meeting the Dornish queen, some tension faded from the boy’s frame.

Later, Daeron and Shaena planned to buy Elia a puppy or an expensive silk as a thank you gift.

Summary: Jonnel preferred to be called “Snow” instead of a stupid name his father gave him.

When he was a child, Jonnel wondered who his father was, who his mother was.

Uncle Ned often told stories about Lyanna, albeit it would only reawaken those painful memories. And according to his uncle, Arya resembles Lyanna in appearance.

“She’s beautiful, and willful, and dead before her time.”

When Jon asked him about his father, Uncle Ned’s expression turned cold and refused to talk about it. Perhaps, that’s the first time that Jon became frightened of him.

So Jon, instead, asked some fellow northmen if they knew his father.

But those who knew his father speak ill of him.

“Rhaegar, a dragon? Bah! He’s less than the shadow of a snake!”

Jon’s blood ran cold. He also inquired about the failed rebellion that his uncle participated in.

“Your father kidnapped your mother and raped her,” they whispered.

“Lord Rickard and his son, Brandon, demanded justice and the return of their only daughter and sister. Instead, the Mad King murdered them.”

“He also ordered the deaths of Robert Baratheon and Lord Eddard, but Lord Arryn rose up in revolt.”

He regretted asking questions about his father and his other family. Jon thought his father is kind and a man with honor, like his uncle, but it seems he’s not.

If his father, Rhaegar, is a Targaryen, then Jon’s also a Targaryen... right?

There’s a time that Jon blamed himself... for the death of thousands of people, including his mother, and for almost putting Queen Elia and her children in danger. He even locked himself in his room for three days until Aunt Catelyn came knocking at his door.

“You’re not the one who’s at fault. None of this is your fault. Children should not be punished for the sins committed by their parents.” Lady Stark then brushed the her hand across his face. “You are a Stark, Jon, even if that man is your father. You were raised here in Winterfell, alongside my children. You may not have the Stark name, but the blood of the northmen runs in your veins.”

Those words make Jon feel better.

At Jon’s twelfth nameday, his father, King Rhaegar, legitimized him and gave him the name “Wolffyre,” despite the Septon’s protest.

The Starks are not happy with the news. Jon only laughed. “Pfft. Wolffyre? What a foolish name. I’m merely a northern bastard. ‘Snow’ would suit me better.”

From then on, Jonnel preferred to be called “Jonnel Snow” or “Jon Snow” instead of “Wolffyre”.

Summary: They say that Princess Shaena and Prince Daeron are Queen Naerys and Aemon the Dragonknight reborn. With the rumors of Shaena’s betrothment to Rhaegar spreads throughout the Seven Kingdoms, the people thought that their love is doomed to fail. Will the history repeat itself once again?

Note: I made their love story quite similar to Naerys and Aemon. Aerys is half-mad in this short fic.

Since the birth of Princess Shaena, her father, King Aerys II, decided to marry her off to her older brother, Prince Rhaegar, when she comes of age in order to keep their bloodline pure.

But things doesn’t turn out the way they do.

Despite the fact that they were siblings, Shaena doesn’t know very much about Rhaegar.

To her, Rhaegar is a strange man. He’s a man of a few words. No one knows what he’s thinking. He spent his time reading in the library or playing a harp. She also somehow feel that he’s obsessing over something.

The day before her 14th nameday, before Aerys could announce her betrothment to Rhaegar, she argued with her father, albeit his growing madness, insisting that she doesn’t want to marry Rhaegar, for her heart already belonged to someone else.

“Who is it?!” Aerys angrily asked while grabbing both of her shoulders. “Who’s the man you’re referring to?!”

Shaena uttered a name: “Daeron.”

Daeron Targaryen, her younger brother, also called the “Wild Dragon,” for his quick-temper and his ferocity in battle. Because of his tremendous skills as a swordsman, the people often called him the “Warrior reborn.”

But despite his temper, Daeron is a kind and honorable man.

Upon hearing her answer, Aerys decided to acknowledge her feelings toward Daeron. And on the princess’ nameday, he announced his daughter’s betrothment to Prince Daeron instead of Rhaegar.

Rhaella and Shaena’s other younger siblings are delighted upon the news, Rhaegar is indifferent, while Daeron is shocked. In search for answers, he took Shaena to the gardens the night of the feast and ask her why she refused to marry Rhaegar.

She answered: “No one could ever replace you in my heart. Now and forever, my heart belongs to you alone.”
