Evertrue is the last installment for the Everneath trilogy, and honestly I was expecting way more — a happy ending for every single character and some victory. Well, partial happiness and full victory is not sitting well with me right now. No idea why.
I’m trying very hard to make this review spoiler free but I’m feeling against sharing the 0’ness I always aim for.
Everneath, Neverfall, and Everbound were pretty much awesome books with exciting plots, and a promise with Everbound of taking the Everneath (or Underworld) down. Don’t be naïve thinking every single person/creature within the Underworld will survive the destruction and live happily ever after on the surface — they won’t.
Nikki, or Nik, is becoming an Everliving and now she has to feed from the only person who carries her heart, Cole. (If you know nothing about what’s happening is that whilst saving Jack, our heroine, Nik fed on Cole three times igniting the transformation to an Everliving and becoming Cole’s queen — his ultimate goal. And after him stealing her heart, therefore keeping control over her).
Jack, after returning from the Tunnels, since replacing Nikki there, had acquired some inhuman strength, and I’m nicknaming him Hercules. Let’s just say his emotions have a lot to do with what he can do… and pretty much having his girlfriend feeding off Cole to survive is somewhat an extreme and a hell of a motivator for strength. Well, he’s a loving character. I’d have loved to have read his POV in the past.
Cole… the bad boy will steal your heart now — in more ways than one. He’s not the same Cole, he’s changed… more like amnesiac state, but, damn, he will bring his own world down for love. You are going to feel frustrated at some point over his position, but you’ll probably understand him a bit more before you no longer see him.
Spoiler? He dies!
Jules, remember her? She’ll be a little more than a friend, and bits of truths will be revealed to her.
Will, Jack’s brother, will have some major part. And well, he’s likable even drunk.
The rest of The Band, well… you know. **cries!**
Yes, I am feeling completely satisfied to put it all out there without mentioning too much stuff, and telling you more than I could’ve possibly have shared in the past. Here’s the snapshot, or shots, can’t remember (but there’s some comedy next1). I won’t fix this phrase, though.
Thank you all for reading this review, and see you all on the next book.
