I’m sorry but why do people care so much about how other people choose to present themselves?

The amount of people I see complaining about the haircut/facial hair of someone they claim to be a fan of is astonishing. And it’s not just “I don’t think this look great”, it’s “this is awful and I hope they shave/cut it/grow it out soon”. Like... why do you give a shit? I’m genuinely curious.

I’m not saying that you can’t comment on it or that you have to love everything about people you’re a fan of. I’m just saying there’s absolutely no reason to act like they killed your fucking grandma every time you see them. I can kinda get commenting on it when you first see it but every time after that you know what’s coming so why do you get so bothered? And even if you do get bothered: that person clearly enjoys their appearance that way so why make them feel bad by constantly bringing up how much you hate how they look.

And don’t give me any of the they-aren’t-on-the-platform-I-use-so-they-won’t-see-it bullshit because you’re still just spreading negativity and making other people think banging on about someone’s appearance is an okay thing to do.

Idk tho, maybe I’m just being crazy for wanting to treat public figures like human beings.
