Backstory Summary of “Ex-Something”

I have had multiple people ask about the backstory leading up to “Ex-Something” so things can be clarified. Please let me know if you have other questions.

Story begins approximately four years after Thanos’ attack on the Avengers compound.

Steve went back to return the stones. He danced with Peggy but chose to let her live her life instead of ruining the timeline. He was able to get Natasha back by returning the Soul Stone. The two of them have since married and are the figureheads of the Avengers program. 

Tony is alive and well, still married to Pepper and being awesome dad to Morgan. He does struggle with nerve damage to his right arm from the snap. He continues to make everyone insane with his brilliance but has chosen to take a step back from being in the limelight to focus on his family.

Clint is now divorced from Laura, who was unable to handle the changes in him that occurred in the years between Infinity War and Endgame. They share custody of the children and co-parent reasonably well. Clint lives at the compound full time.

Thor is off world, presumed to be causing chaos somewhere with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Bruce is involved in an awkwardly sweet ‘secret’ relationship with Jane. They regularly forget to eat until Darcy badgers them. 

Darcy is currently working for Avengers as a self proclaimed ‘social media maven’ under Pepper. She never did graduate but Tony made her a special diploma with a PhD from the Stark Foundation. It’s one of her prized possessions.

Sam is back working at the VA as a specialist in PTSD for both veterans and those affected by the Snap. 

Bucky is finally at the point where he feels like he’s not a stranger in his own body anymore. He’s discovered he has a knack for mechanical things and often spends time with Clint working on their project motorcycles. This terrifies everyone. But it is better than their “We can cook” phase because nothing has exploded. Yet.

Vision is back, he returned when the stones were replaced in the timeline. 

Wanda is handling the logistics of the day to day workings of the Avengers, including communications between them and the GotG, Capt. Marvel, etc. She and Vision are happily involved but he still forgets he’s not supposed to walk through walls.

Akala ko kasi talaga may ‘something’, pero normal mo na pala yun. Ganon ang trato mo sa lahat. Akala ko espesyal ako, tayo. May spark, may connection, pero linya ka pala ng meralco beh, ang dami naka-connect sayo. May jumper pa, leche. Hindi ba ako worthy mahalin? Para mapansin mong espesyal ka sakin. So, ano tayo? Ex-fling? Ex-something? Pseudo-prospect? Nando'n sa pagitan ng muntikan at akala ko lang?

This girl. -I'm supposed to go with my best friend so that's cool. -But I'm sitting at the table with my ex-almost's (who I'm still talking to) ex-gf who he dated for like 3 years. -and she's never liked me. my other best friend says she mentions me like every day now. And she thinks I stalk her cause I went on her Instagram ONCE and accidentally liked a pic. And she knows I was with her ex. -now I found out my ex-almost is gonna be there too. And I guess I wouldn't have minded that if I didn't realize that it was never me & he is still in love with his ex. -and I don't want to ruin things for my best friend, but I think I'm gonna be fucking miserable.

be careful though, because you might accidentally recover some old conversations of an ex-something telling you how amazing he thinks you are(were), and it would be dangerous to drink together
