Hyeju releases comeback solo single “Maria″

Lipstick member Hyeju has made her solo comeback! Hyeju released her second solo mini-album Interlude earlier this year, and has been busy since guest mentoring on Hot Topic(k) and promoting Lipstick latest comeback, which she just recently finished music show promotions for earlier this month. Her comeback single, “Maria”, has been described as a mashup of styles, mixing trap and synth with an upbeat Latin pop-inspired style. The lyrics address elements of fame such as loneliness, hate, and self-image. Knight’s Taeyong helped in part to write, compose, and produce the song. Hyeju will be promoting the song on music shows for two weeks.

Hyeju releases second solo mini-abum “Interlude”

Lipstick’s Hyeju made her solo debut last spring with the mini-album Premiere, almost eight years after she first set foot on stage as a member of BC Entertainment girl group Lipstick. The girl group member has taken some time since to expand herself in the areas of acting, variety, and more solo music, as well as a collaboration and features before making her return to drop her second solo mini-album Interlude.

Interlude has an approximately twenty-two minute runtime across six tracks where Hyeju shows off her personal brand of dance pop, which track one “Into You” introduces the listener to right away, that also intermingles with influences of electropop, trendy R&B, and even a more acoustic arrangement for the album’s closer. Element’s Sun makes an appearance as the featuring artist on “Who Are You”, which he also composed and contributed in part to the writing and production of. Knight’s Taeyong also appears in the album’s credits as the lyricist and one of the composers of both “Bad Love” and “Lonely Love”. He also helped to produce the former. Silhouette’s Youngjoo served as one of the composers and producers on “Why”.

“One Shot Two Shot” allows Hyeju to show a new side from “I Just Wanna Dance” and “Don’t Say No”, while still remaining dance pop with a tinge of sensuality. Hyeju gives a charismatic performance in the video’s MV that takes place partially in a subway station and highlights the song’s choreography, which Hyeju is reported to have helped create. “One Shot Two Shot” will be promoted for two weeks on music shows and b-side track “Into You”, which Hyeju also aided in the choreographing of, will be staged as a second song for the first week of promotions.

Mentor lineup for Hot Topic announced

The first two mentor lineups for the currently airing survival show Hot Topic have been announced!

According to a new press release, Unity’s Yul, Origin’s Joohwan, Impulse’s An, and Alien’s Chan will be appearing as mentors for episodes three and four, set to air January 1 and January 8. The four boy group members will help mentor the show’s contestants on performing one of their songs.

The mentor lineup for episode five, set to air January 15, includes BEE’s Charlie, Lipstick’s Hyeju and Artemisia, Decipher’s Taejin, Gal.actic’s Yena, Origin’s JJ, Impulse’s Siwoo, Silhouette’s Youngjoo, Fuse’s Sooah, and Lucid’s Jeonghwa. This group of mentors will mentor the contestants on a variety of topics following the first elimination taking place at the end of episode four.

According to reports, the mentors have all already filmed their appearances on the show.

Lipstick's Hyeju covers Dazed Korea's January Issue

Lipstick’s Hyeju is the featured star for Dazed Korea’s January issue. The female idol had been busy since her debut as the lead vocal and lead dancer of BC Entertainment’s girl group Lipstick in 2012, but this is her first solo magazine cover. Hyeju has been active in all areas such as acting, variety and music as indicated by the release of her solo comeback mini-album on the tenth of this month.

The shoot showcases the typical Hyeju style of chic and cool, a concept and title that’s been given to her by fans since her debut. In her interview with Dazed Korea, Hyeju talks about her status as a now veteran idol within the industry, how it feels to be reaching her ninth year as an idol as well as what the public can continue to look forward to when it comes to Lipstick. She also spilled some spoilers about her upcoming mini-album and shared her experience on being a part of the creative process as she participated in the choreography making for two of the songs off the album.

“This next album isn’t too far off of what I’ve shown before as a soloist, but I do think the sound has matured a little. I put a lot of thought into what I wanted to show as a soloist and decided that I’d like to put a lot of emphasis on my choreography. I’m lucky I had a great crew to work with that helped my thoughts become reality.”

Hyeju releases comeback solo single “Don’t Say No″

Lipstick’s Hyeju has made her comeback with the release of her new single “Don’t Say No”! Hyeju made her official solo debut in March with the mini-album Premiere after the success of her collaboration “Blue Moon” the year prior, and she’s returned with a sound incorporating the dance pop she’s become acquainted with mixed with a new sound and concept. An R&B and dance pop blend, “Don’t Say No” is lyrically and musically dauntless and the music video plays with themes of revenge. Hyeju helped to choreograph the song and she will promote the single on music shows for a week.

Hyeju and Sun release BC Portal song “Don’t″

Lipstick’s Hyeju and Element’s Sun have paired up to release a new collaboration through BC Portal. The song is the first time the pair have collaborated musically, although they have previously served as the ambassadors of Lotte Waterpark together and both acted in the drama My Mister, which Hyeju played the lead role in. “Don’t” is a blues-tinged R&B track that combines Hyeju’s smooth vocals with Sun’s rhythmic rapping. Sun is credited as a partial lyricist, partial composer, and partial producer for the track.

[NEWS] Lipstick’s Hyeju announced as the new face of Vedi Vero

Eyewear brand Vedi Vero has announced that Lipstick member Hyeju has been chosen as the new face of their brand. Hyeju is currently also working as one of the faces of Lotte Waterpark alongside Element’s Sun and is currently earning new fans onscreen as the female lead of the tvN drama My Mister.

To showcase their new face, Vedi Vero also released a new CF starring Hyeju for their “Be My Color” campaign today. Hyeju shows off a variety of fashionable eyewear stylings for different moods in the commercial film.

[NEWS] Lipstick’s Hyeju releases solo OST for My Mister

The second part of tvN drama My Mister’s original soundtrack has been released onto streaming sites. The second song to be released from the drama is sung by the show’s lead actress, Lipstick’s Hyeju. “Adult” is a melancholy, reflective ballad utilizing Hyeju’s emotional vocals.

My Mister airs at 21:30 KST every Wednesday and Thursday night on tvN.
