Yul releases first solo abum “1st Desire [Greed]”

Unity’s Yul debuted as an idol in 2016 and made his debut as a soloist three and a half year later with the release of his first solo mini-album 4:01AM in 2019. Yul has released a number of collaborations in his time as an idol as well, but the Unity member has now returned to show his solo prowess with his first full-length solo album.

In 1st Desire [Greed], Yul matures even more from the version of himself he showed with 4:01AM. Throughout its seven-song track list, Yul showcases his charisma and sensuality. The darkness of “Intro: Lost” and “Red Moon” bleeds into the sensuality of “SINphony” and “Somebody Like You” before flowing through “Do U Like” to close out the album with the more emotional ballad stylings of “Beautiful” and “The Winter”.

"Red Moon” is the single Yul will be promoting off of the album. The song is a theatrically seductive slow jam that allows Yul to showcase his skills as a main dancer. The music video follows the themes of the song, shifting between shots highlighting the idol’s visuals and ones showing the choreography. “Red Moon” will be promoted for a month on music shows and b-side track “Somebody Like You” will be staged as a second song for the first week of promotions.

Mentor lineup for Hot Topic announced

The first two mentor lineups for the currently airing survival show Hot Topic have been announced!

According to a new press release, Unity’s Yul, Origin’s Joohwan, Impulse’s An, and Alien’s Chan will be appearing as mentors for episodes three and four, set to air January 1 and January 8. The four boy group members will help mentor the show’s contestants on performing one of their songs.

The mentor lineup for episode five, set to air January 15, includes BEE’s Charlie, Lipstick’s Hyeju and Artemisia, Decipher’s Taejin, Gal.actic’s Yena, Origin’s JJ, Impulse’s Siwoo, Silhouette’s Youngjoo, Fuse’s Sooah, and Lucid’s Jeonghwa. This group of mentors will mentor the contestants on a variety of topics following the first elimination taking place at the end of episode four.

According to reports, the mentors have all already filmed their appearances on the show.

[NEWS] 7ROPHY’s Eunah, CHARM’s Yeonggi, and Unity’s Yul announced as new Inkigayo MCs

SBS has confirmed 7ROPHY’s Eunah, CHARM’s Yeonggi, and Unity’s Yul have been chosen as the newest trio to host Inkigayo starting January 31.

This will be both Yeonggi and Eunah’s first time hosting a music show, while Yul will be coming back to the hosting scene after nearly a year since his last hosting role on MBC’s Show! Music Core. All three idols have been making strides in their own respective careers: Yeonggi has been announced for the cast of the drama Abyss set to air in early February, Eunah is currently playing the role of Hong Seol in tvN’s Cheese in the Trap after releasing her first full-length album re:new last fall, and Yul has recently made his solo debut with 1st Desire [Greed] earlier this month after the success of both Unity and sub-unit CHAMPION.

The Inkigayo production team has confirmed the team is in preparation for a special stage to commemorate the new trio. The new MC team’s first episode can be seen on Sunday, January 31 beginning at 15:40 KST.

[NEWS] Unity’s Yul announced as the new face of Clio Cosmetics

Clio Cosmetics has announced that Unity member Yul has been chosen as the new face of their brand!

Clio Cosmetics has traditionally used female models for their products in the past, but in his CF, Yul models the colors #03 Peach Pillow, #08 Pumpkin Moments, and #05 Red on Red from Clio’s line of lip products called Mad Matte Stay In Lip. For each color, he embodies a different concept from angelically innocent to charmingly youthful to charismatically sexy.

This deal marks Yul’s first solo brand ambassador role since his debut with Unity in 2016.

Sophie and Yul release BC Portal song “SoulMate″

"SoulMate”, featuring the vocals of WISH’s Sophie and Unity’s Yul, is the most recent song to be released through BC for the Portal digital music project. The song is Sophie’s first musical release outside of her group while Yul made his solo debut at the end of last year with his mini-album 4:01AM. “SoulMate” is a laid back jazzy track with hop hop influences. Lyrically, the song tells of a pair of soulmates while the music video plays with associated themes of strings of fate and mirror images commonly tied to the titular concept. Fuse’s Minjung is credited as the lyricist for the track.

[NEWS] Fuse’s Cherry and Unity’s Yul announced as MCs for Gayo Daejejeon

Fuse’s main dancer Cherry and Unity’s main dancer Yul have been confirmed as two of the MCs for this year’s Gayo Daejejeon. The sibling duo has been active with their respective groups as well as together, having released two songs, “Dinosaur” and “Re-bye” in 2019. In addition to that, Yul has recently debuted solo with “Focus” and Cherry also had her solo debut earlier in 2019, with “Free Somebody”. Both Fuse and Unity are confirmed to be performing on this year’s show.

Gayo Daejejeon will be held at MBC Dream Center, in Ilsan, on December 31, starting at 8:45pm. This will be Cherry’s and Yul’s first major MC-ing gig since their respective debuts in 2014 and 2016.

Yul releases first solo mini-abum “4:01 AM″

Unity’s Yul has dropped his first solo mini-album! He follows members Jaewon and Ting who also made their solo debuts earlier this year with an album and a single respectively. Previously this year, Yul released both a Portal digital collaborative single and a promoted collaboration with Fuse’s Cherry

4:01AM consists of three total tracks: the title track and two b-side tracks. The genre of the album is consistently production-heavy EDM dance pop with prominent backbeats. Yul shows off his abilities in both singing and rapping across the three tracks in addition to his unique charms as a musical performer.

The promoted track off of Yul’s debut mini-album is titled “Focus”. A future bass dance track, “Focus” features romantic lyrics and deliberately textured production elements. The music video makes heavy use of Yul’s dancing skills by showcasing much of the song’s choreography. Group mate Jihae is one of the composers for the title track. “Focus” will be promoted for a month on music shows and b-side track “I Like It” will also be staged on music shows for the first week of promotions.

Cherry and Yul release collaborative single “Re-Bye″

Fuse’s Cherry and Unity’s Yul have released a collaborative single! The pair released a Gold Star Portal collaboration, “Dinosaur”, earlier this year in June, but this is the first time they’ll be promoting on music shows together. “Re-Bye” is a fun jazz-pop song with the majority of the vocal styling falling on Cherry’s shoulders like Yul harmonizes and enters the spotlight for his rap verse. The disheartened lyrics contrast cleverly with the upbeat music. The surprising juxtaposition of the song carries over into the music video, which tells a story where not everything is as it seems. Yul is credited for helping to write the lyrics of the track. “Re-Bye” will be promoted for two weeks on music shows.
