Strangely validating. Strangely alarming.
Got my pretty hospital stuffs on ready to go for surgery very soon
I just gotta remind myself that one day I’ll get surgery. One day it’ll happen for me. One day.
Finally had my excision surgery along with removing everything related to the uterus minus the ovaries and my appendix
I'm very tired but happy I had this done right
So, recovery update. TW: surgery, discussions of Female reproductive organs, endometriosis, surgical findings.
I am 3 days post op for Laparoscopic excision surgery for my endometriosis, I am healing really well so far and already moving around a lot freer. i cant really remember what i posted last time after surgery as i was still pretty out of it, so ill just do a recap.
to start with i have what my dr calls a fairly complex case of endometriosis because they have had a lot of trouble trying to treat me over the last 10 years since my diagnoses when i was 20, almost all non invasive treatments either just dont work or make my symptoms worse, so surgery has been the only thing that gives me any relief, i usually have surgery every 2 years roughly, but due to covid lock downs at the start of the pandemic and my pregnancy, it been over 5 years, so yeah i was in a bad state.
when they went in on Tuesday they found my entire uterus adhered to my abdominal wall with mass amounts of scar tissue, it was basically completely immobilized, which is not normal, all your organs should have the ability to move around as you move, they also found massive amounts of scar tissue throughout my pelvic region from past endo lesions and adhesions, but surprisingly no fresh endo lesions this time, which is one good thing i suppose. they have also found evidence of a condition called Adenomyosis which is a sister condition to endometriosis basically. endometriosis causes tissue similar to your uterine lining to grow outside of the uterus through the pelvic region and sometimes other areas of the body in rare cases, Adenomyosis is where that same tissue invades the wall of your uterus, mine is apparently very thick and lumpy, which it shouldn't be.
they freed my uterus from my abdominal wall so its no longer attached and went through and tried freeing up and removing some of the other scar tissue throughout my pelvis, so hopefully now once i recover, my organs will be moving around the way they are supposed to and i can get back to normal life, my surgeon was actually quite shocked how anyone else had missed this and how i was actually capable of moving most days. honestly i can already feel a difference even with the post op pain, i dont feel as much of the constant painful tugging that i was pre surgery.
Im all good guys, i am out of surgery and resting at home. Thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes i means a lot.
I am in a fair amount of pain, but thats to be expected.
I'll give more details about what they found in a few days
My friend Amanda’s getting her excision surgery in a couple of hours and I’m so excited but so nervous for her.
