Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 |
You wake up again later, though you don’t know how much later. Feels like a few hours later. On the end of your bed lay some clothes, something you are very grateful for. You notice that your legs and hands feel a lot less stiff now, so you hop of the bed, shuffling over to the clothes. A black hoodie that was no doubt a man’s, considering it was almost a blanket to you, and some sweatpants. You look down at your dress. The black, long, flowy fabric that normally just reached the floor pulled over your head, you quickly throw on the sweatshirt and pants, burying yourself in the warm fabric.
You walk over to the door with soft feet, just to check. They wouldn’t be so stupid to actually leave the door open. You waddle in front of the door, pulling your hands free from beneath the fabric. With your hand on the doorknob, you push down. Click. The door pushes open, the new gray hallway in front of you, empty. You pause, your mouth falling open at the sight. You stand in the doorframe for a second, frozen in surprise and confusion, before peeking around the door. The infirmary was the intersection of two halls, one to the left and one to the front. Slowly, your feet push to move.
You walk around the door and into the left hallway, silently moving along. What kind of people leave their captives unattended, in an unlocked room? You shake your head. Injured or not, you could still take them down if you needed to, of that much, you were sure. The hallway was long, with metal doors either side, and a double door at the end. You slowly sneak past the doors, your weight shifting to make your footsteps completely silent. The double door on the end seemed like the safest bet. Bigger doors mean more people who need to use them. You push yourself against the cold metal, listening for a sound.
There was the sound of some movement behind the door, so you quickly look down. You had no external weapons, so you would have to sneak around. You could take them down in hand to hand combat, but they would shoot you down before you had the chance. Taking a deep breath, you duck down, slowly pushing the handle down a tiny piece at the time, making sure you were quiet. The door glides open easily, just enough for you to peek through. There was some sort of common room, some metal tables and chairs scattered along the walls. You saw one guy, dressed in complete black, facing away from you.
Taking a deep breath, you consider. You couldn’t be sure if he was alone in the room, but you were willing to take the chance. When would such a perfect opportunity come around again? You push open the door enough to slip your body through, closing it in the same fashion. You almost release a relieved breath as you see the guy is indeed alone, before focussing. The dude was a lot taller than you, and a lot heavier too. He had a handgun on his belt, but was distracted with … his phone. How professional. Without a sound, you kick him in the back of the knee, making him fall forward with a surprised grunt. You grab hold of his chin with one hand, grabbing his gun with the other. In less then a second, you had the gun pressed against his temple, while you pull his face towards you.
The movements he was about to make still as he notices the cold feeling of the barrel against his head. You don’t waste any time, knocking the handle against his head quickly, making him slump against you. You scan him quickly, somewhat relieved that you don’t recognize him. You put the gun in the band of your pants, hidden for now, but in reach. You don’t take the clothes of the guy, but do take the knife strapped to his boot, taking a steady hold on it. A gun would be to loud right now, that would lure all of them like cockroaches. You want to walk away, but a glint from the corner of your eye, makes you stop. You quickly bend down and pick up the phone that he had dropped. A sms conversation was still open.
>> 14:00 All clear. T6 is coming to cover soon.
<< Copy that.
>> I’m coming round now, T6 is walking the halls.
>> 16:00 In station 3. Everything clear.
<< 16:30 Report.
The next message was half typed. You send a quick response back, to not raise any suspicion.
>> 16:30 Clear.
Making sure the volume is turned off, you tuck the phone in the pocket of your hoodie, before making your way across the room. There were two doors, but only one was unlocked. The walls in the next hall were concrete. It started looking less like a lab and more like a bunker. Whether that was good or bad, you were not sure. The ceiling was very high, making the every step echo. You hold your breath as you notice a vent shaft at the far end of the hall. Sneaking over quietly, you let out a relieved breath. The vent was small, but you should be able to fit. As quickly as you can, you bend down and unscrew the bolts at each corner of the vent. The vent cover pops off without a problem.
You squeeze inside. The space was small, barely fitting your shoulders, but you don’t give yourself time to panic about that. You pull the cover in again, the bolts were still out there, but when they found the bolts, you would be long gone. You waste no time, crawling through the metal pipe as quietly as possible. You get out the other end of the pipe, kicking the vent lock open and drop into what seems to be a mechanical room. Well, room is not really the word. The space you were in was only about a meter high, some sort of crawl space between the room below and the ceiling. There were wires running everywhere, that seemed to be powering all of the lights.
The ‘floor’ you were on, was a tight metal grid, leaving small spaces to look down below. The room below seemed to be the common room of the building. You hold your breath as you notice that in the room below, there are people resting on the dark brown couches, sounds of television and shouting not bothering them. You almost gasp as your eyes catch a familiar figure. Sunshine was laying on his back on one of the couches, eyes closed and hands resting on his chest. This must be where the most important headpieces hang out. You carefully crawl on on hands and knees, ignoring the pain it causes. You crawl on and on until- someone opens the door below with a loud bang, rushing in with hasty steps.
“Uh… guys?”
Sehun’s voice breaks up the discussion from below, the room shifting their attention to him.
“What?”
This voice was new, it was very deep and a little raspy. You couldn’t see the person who was speaking, though.
“She’s gone.”
“What do you mean, she’s gone?”
“The captive. She’s gone.”
“How can she be gone, she was locked in the infirmary.”
“I- I might have forgot to lock the door again after Ghost called me for lunch.”
“You forgot to lock the door.”
“Yes.”
“And now, she’s gone.”
“Yes.”
“Where the fuck did she go, we have guards in every station?”
Another new voice. This one was lighter, bubbly and bright. How many people are involved in this shit?
“She’s a trained spy, you moron. She knows how to take someone down.”
That sounded like Chen’s voice, though you couldn’t be too sure since you couldn’t see him either.
“Right. Sehun, you check the hallways surrounding the infirmary again. Ghost, check the cams.”
The person with the deep voice seemed to be in charge. Noted. Sehun nods, walking out of the door again. Sunshine stands up too.
“I’ll help too, it was getting a bit to stuffy in here anyway.”
“Fine. Check station 2 and 6. She can’t have gone far.”
“Beta, what are we supposed to do?” The one called Ghost asks.
“You guys sit tight. She’ll turn up soon enough. I’m going to inform Alpha.”
Correction, he’s second in command. Noted. You see Sunshine leave the room, as well as another set of boots that leaves through another door, leaving the rest in silence.
“What’s that look you got, Ghost?”
“I’m so done with this fucking shit all the fucking time. Can’t we just have a normal afternoon without someone escaping or trying to breach our firewall?”
“Stop complaining. It makes you look like Suho.”
“Shut up, Chen.”
“Just tell us what you see, whiny.”
“Station 2 is clear. Sehun is making his way to 3 now. I-”
“What?”
“Shit.”
“What?!”
“She took out one of the goons.”
“I knew they weren’t worth shit, we should just handle this ourselves.”
“Not now, Kai. Ghost, where the fuck is Suho? He’s never around when we-”
“Top floor.”
“I’m going to get him. Kai, cover me. She has a gun. Everyone on stand-by.”
“Yes, chef.”
“Just do as I tell you…”
“Fine.”
You silently crawl on, in hopes of finding a breach. As soon as they would start mobilizing the area, you were done. The crawl space runs over the wall, opening up into a new room. You drop down, hiding behind the door. You didn’t have much time left. Shit. You open the door, wanting to hit yourself at the situation you’ve just walked in on. Two goons, both looking at you in surprise before reaching for their guns. Time feels like it’s going in slow motion as you launch at one of them, your hands grabbing his neck while you kick his gun away. The man grabs your arm but you swing your leg around to kick the other guard in the face. With your legs, you wrap around his head and make your weight pull him down, his face hitting the floor with a crack.
The other man had now took hold of your one wrist, trying to grab the other, so you turn to him and kick him in the knee, making him let go of you. While he falls on his knees, you grab his face and pull it to your knee, breaking his nose. You turn around to see the other guy reach for his gun again, but you grab his wrist and pull it down harshly, breaking his wrist. You quickly pick up both guns, fingers tight on the triggers. You still had 13 bullets. Sadly, before you can use them, 6 barrels are aimed at your face, 6 different men looking down at you.
You hold your guns at two of them in particular, Sunshine and a tall guy with fiery red hair. You recognize some faces. Chen, Suho and Sehun were also here. The last guy was tall too, not as tall as the redhead, but taller then Chen, his skin a warm honey color. You sigh as all men keep their guns aimed at you, ready to shoot. You would be able to take out two or three before they had the chance to blink, but the others probably wouldn’t appreciate that. So, slowly, you lower your guns to the floor.
“Hey, Boss, nice to see you again.”
Suho smiles, his white teeth on display. The tall one scoffs, but you decide to ignore him. Turning slightly, tipping an imaginary hat at Sehun.
“Sehun, Chen.”
Sehun grins wide at you, his gun lowering to the floor.
“Hey, darling. How you holding up?”
“Just fine, thank you. Though I seem to be a bit outnumbered.”
“I found the bolts of the vent.”
“I figured.”
The tall one steps forward. He was at least two heads taller than you, so you have to look up slightly.
“Drop your weapons, nice and slow.”
So this is Beta. With a huff, you flick a strand of hair out of your face and lower your guns to the floor, the metal tapping on the cement. Then you straighten up again, giving him a soft smile. He shakes his head with disbelief.
“All of them.”
Chen is now smiling too, as well as Sehun, who seems to having a blast with someone playing smart with their leader. With a small pout, you reach under your sweatshirt, pulling out the third gun and popping out the bullets, before throwing it to the floor too.
“All.”
Now you full on frown at him, taking out the knife from your pocket and sliding it towards the rest of the men.
“Good now?”
“Yes.”
With a flick of the Beta’s hand, the tanned man walks forward, picking up the guns, his eyes still on you. He was eyeing you with care, even now without weapons. You smile at the sight of it.
“I don’t bite… ” You grin at him, lowering your voice to a whisper. “Hard.”
Sehun and Suho have to hold back a giggle, but the man just keeps a stone cold expression and walks back to his spot, his gun still aimed at your heart. You shake your head but turn back to Beta.
“Alright, what now, princess?”
Sehun laughs out loud at that, quickly biting his cheek to quiet down again.
“Let’s go.”
Sunshine walks forward, putting his gun back on his belt, and grabs hold of your arm very tightly again.
“Jesus, again? Can’t you hold my arm with a normal strength, instead of this iron grip?”
“Just walk.”
You giggle at Sunshine’s bored expression, walking between the men nicely. They lead you out of the room, leaving the two unconscious men on the floor. Another grey walled hallway. As you walk, you take a good look at the two new men. They had put their guns away now. The tall one walking in front of everyone, Beta, had bright red hair, pushed away from his face, but some strands still falling forward. His dark eyes and eyebrows gave his face a stern look, though he did have some chubby cheeks. Despite being tall, he wasn’t lanky, rather wide shoulders and muscular thighs visible through his black clothes.
Sadly, he had long sleeves, so you couldn’t see any tattoo’s. He wasn’t wearing a gun belt around his waist, so his gun was just resting in his hand. He only seemed to be 23-24 years old, but his attitude made him seem a lot older. The way he carried himself was that of a man with a lot of power. You had noticed earlier too, the way he was scanning every detail in the room with great care, analyzing. He must have been in this world for a while. Your eyes shift to your side. While he wasn’t holding on to you, the tanned man next to you kept you from trying to break free. His eyes were cold, despite their warm chocolate color. His entire presence screamed danger, something you didn’t get to notice earlier.
Right now though, it was almost tangible. He had this way of moving that made you shiver. His movements were smooth, almost gliding, despite being so tall and muscular. He seemed to be the most trained one out of all of them, his sleeveless hood showing off his muscular arms and hands. His hands were surprisingly clean in comparison to the rest of them. No blood, his knuckles weren’t too bruised. But the palms of his hands were littered with fine lines, scars. Knives. You recognized the lines to be practicing scars from knives. They were familiar, since you have them too. You try to put the face to the name.
This must be Kai. Early twenties. Older sisters. His hair was an artificial blonde color, falling in strands around his face. You stare at him, suddenly noticing a slightly pink shade on his cheeks. It was barely visible, but since you were staring so hard, you caught it. He was shy. How sweet. Your attention now gets pulled to his arm. His tattoo was strange. There was a figure, a woman, but she was pictured double. Like they took the same overlay and copied it twice, moving a couple of millimeters over. The bottom figure seemed half faded, shifting into the figure in the front. The number one with the stripes was woven into the background of the figures, between the ripples around the woman.
His bicep had two black stripes going all the way around. When Sunshine stops, you look back to the front. You had come to a long staircase, a large black door at the top. You had no idea where they had walked you to, too distracted with inspecting the new men to notice. They all seem to get some sort of command through their headpieces, since they all nod at one another. Sunshine hands you over to Chen. He, Kai, Suho and Sehun all turn away from the staircase, turning into the other connecting hall instead. Sehun turns around once more before leaving, winking at you and mouthing a ‘have fun’. You glare at him but he’s already too far, so you turn to the front.
“What are we doing?”
“You get to meet the boss.” Beta answers, his low voice resounding through the now empty halls.
“And what then?”
“We’ll see. If you behave…” He trails off, walking up the stairs with you and Chen in tow.
Chen leans over, a grin on his lips.
“Don’t you always…”
At the top of the staircase, Beta waits in front of the door for a second, then turning to the camera in the corner.
“Ghost, open the fucking door. I swear, if you make me come get you-”
The door opens with a click, so Beta opens it, letting both you and Chen inside. The room you walk into is big, a giant skylight lighting up the place. It seems like a normal apartment, something that is both surprising and not at all . People can get to know a ton about another if you know where to look. Whoever lives here is organised, determined and attentive. They care about details, most likely a good planner. Smart too, by the looks of the amount of heavy literature on the coffee table. Chen leads you to follow Beta, to a door at the far end of the room. It seems to be an office room. The room is significantly darker when you enter, so your eyes have to adjust for a bit. The room is indeed and office. There is a desk and a large black desk chair, but it is empty.
“Alpha, we’ve located the captive.”
The room stays silent for a bit, but it seems that Beta is getting a command in his headpiece. Suddenly, a door that was hidden in the wall pops open. The man that walks through has you staring. He’s not tall or extremely short, not extremely outstanding from any of the other men here. It’s his eyes. His eyes are sharp, ice-cold when they meet yours. His black eyes make goosebumps appear on your arms before you can help it. He’s, of course, super handsome, but your eyes glide down from the moment he steps into the office.
He’s rubbing his knuckles, his hands bloody and chafed. Some drops of blood drip onto the wooden floor. Without sparing you a glance, he pops down in the chair. He didn’t scare you, but he was more than intimidating to say the least. He, unlike the others, was wearing a more fancy attire. He wore a white button down and black suit pants. His sleeves were rolled up, showing off his tattoo. His tattoo was that of a snowflake, it was very big, wrapping around his entire arm. You couldn’t see the number one with how his arm was positioned, but it was probably on the inside of his arm.
He was very trained, the muscles in his hands and arms still strained from his earlier activity. Whatever it was, the person on the other side was unlucky, that much was clear. His brown hair was styled up and out of his face. For a moment, it stays silent in the room, but then his eyes make his way up your body, to meet yours. You want to recoil under his gaze, but you will your body to stay where it is. He doesn’t talk to you, just keeps regarding you for what feels like ages, before his eyes move over to Beta.
“Yes?”
His voice is a little raspy, but above anything, dripping with authority.
“Here she is.”
Chen let’s go of your arm, his hands dropping by his sides while Alpha now looks at you in great detail. You can tell that he is reading you like you do with other people, but he won’t be able to find much. He bites his lip, seemingly a habit, standing up from his chair and walking around, to the front of the desk. He rests against it, not taking his eyes from yours. Instead, he reaches his bloody hand up and presses a button on his headset.
“Ghost? Send Sehun this way.”
His hand drops again, but he starts walking around you, like a lion and his prey. You keep strong, not letting his gaze do anything to you. When he stands behind you, you hold in a shiver. You can feel his body closing in on you, his warm chest pressed against your back as his lips hover over your ear.
“So, you knock some of our guards out and get to a door, what then?”
You swallow slowly as his lips now are gently touching your ear.
“You don’t know where you are, baby girl. Don’t be stupid.”
He stays like that for another second before he peels himself off you and you have to resist a shudder. Chen clears his throat next to you and grabs hold of you again. Alpha walks back to his chair and plops down, weaving his fingers together and resting them over his thighs. Despite his bluffing stance, his threat didn’t feel empty, something that made you wonder. Who was this man? You hear two strong knocks against the door before Sehun’s tall figure walks through the door.
“Alpha?”
“Are the generators up and running now?”
“Yes.”
Alpha nods, looking over to you again.
“I hope you had fun. But playtime is over now.”
“The bomb and tracker need a couple of hours to activate and be traceable. That’s why we couldn’t immediately find you earlier. But, they are active now, so…”
Alpha stands up again, walking over to you.
“I’ll say this once, and once only. If I want you dead, all I need to do is snap my fingers. You don’t want to play games with me. Now-”
He looks over to Beta, focussing his attention on him.
“I want you to prepare her.”
Beta looks shocked, almost as shocked as you and he opens his mouth.
“But-”
Alpha turns away from him, walking over to the door he came out of earlier, his hand resting on the doorframe.
“If we are done here, I have a guest that I’d rather not let wait for too long.”
Just before he can walk away again, Beta takes a step forward.
“Alpha, you can’t be serious. What are we supposed to do with her?”
Sehun snickers, turning his attention to the older man.
“I could think of some things to do.”
Alpha turns to the four of you again, shrugging in genuine disinterest.
“Figure something out, let Sehun play with her, I don’t care. Don’t kill her without my order, that’s all.”
Something dangerous flickers in Sehun’s eyes as he looks at you, fading quickly, but not fast enough and you bite the inside of your cheek to hold in any snarky remarks.
“Dismissed.”
Alpha walks away, not a care in the world as Beta groans and rubs his face for a second. He then turns to you.
“You-” He points a finger at you, before looking to the men beside you. “Just take her with you, I don’t-”
“I’ll lead her around, don’t worry.” Chen lets your arm loose a bit, before dragging you toward the door. While passing Sehun, you hold in a shiver that passes through you, his icy blue eyes now making you feel very exposed as they skim over your body. When the door falls shut behind you, you let out a tense sigh, letting your weight shift to your right leg. Chen seems strangely similar in his expression, his face smoothing out from a frown.
“If I let go of you, will you try to kill me?”
“I might.”
He hums, running his fingers through his hair, brushing it away from his face. “I think I’ll take that chance.” He carefully lets go of your arm, keeping his eyes on you for a bit, making you bite your lip to hold back a smile.
“Boo.” Chen flinches with a frown, before a huge smile is painted on his lips.
I want to request a jongin mafia au! Maybe with action and angst, and that is it. Thanksss
For once in your life, things seemed to be going okay... at least for now.
Two years ago, you had abandoned the life you had once lived. A life that was dark and a life that caused you to have a lot of skeletons in your closet.
But one day, you got tired of living on the edge. You got tired of the nightmares. So you ran away.
You remained as low profile as you could, working at a local ‘mom and pop’ shop so there wasn’t a paper trail of you. You dealt with your money in cash and stayed in the bed and breakfast that you worked at on the side. You wouldn’t dare rent or try to buy a home no matter how much money you had stolen when you left, there was still a risk.
You couldn’t leave a single trail of where you went so any bit of family you had, must have thought you died and while it hurt at first, it was what was best for them. If you stayed, they could have gotten mixed up in your mess and ended up dead themselves so for their safety, you left.
The cell phone you kept was a burner and anytime something seemed to start up, you trashed it.
You were almost certain that you had done everything to keep him from following you.
Almost certain, was never certain enough.
It was a chilly Thursday when you first felt paranoia hit you.
You were very meticulous with how you kept the bedroom you stayed in and when you noticed the clock on your side table was half an inch tilted to the left, you felt your heart stop. Most people could rule this out as something else, but you knew better. There was no way it was something else especially when the day after, you smelt a wisp of cologne in the air - and not just any.
His.
Panicked, you hurriedly packed a suitcase. leaving nearly everything behind. If you could smell that he had been in the room, you were leaving almost too late.
The first priority before you ditched the town you had made your home in, was to get the guy you were seeing out - and fast.
You met him when you first ran away from your old life. He had gentle eyes and a sweet smile so it was easy to fall for him after a couple of months. It was nice to have a soft love after the rough and overly passionate love you had ran away from. It was nice to have someone purely innocent around and while his love didn’t give you the heart stopping sparks, it at least kept you alive.
There were no plans of spending your life with this man, but he was a safe type of fun and if anything, you loved him so much as a best friend - even if you couldn’t tell him anything.
The conversations the two of you had were always of his life and the things he dreamed of because your side was empty. You had no dreams and no life to speak of anymore. You accepted life as a nobody and knew that one day, you would move on from this man and he would find someone more pure for himself.
You were barefoot when you ran down the gravel road to his house that was normally a twenty minute walk and you could feel the blood seeping from the wounds that were forming from the sharp gravel.
You cursed to yourself. If only you had been smarter when you first noticed the clock and then you would have had more time. He couldn’t find out about the man you were seeing because if he did -
You shivered as you ran because you didn’t even what to imagine what would happen if he found out.
Sweat dripped down your face as you wondered just how you were getting out of this in the middle of fuck nothing town.
Part of you wasn’t sure you would get out. Maybe you would have to off yourself but at least you could get the man you liked so much out first.
After what seemed like hours passed, you made it to his front porch and the day that was turning into night, seemed all too quiet. Your feet pattered against the faded green wood below them and you reached for the screen door so roughly that you felt it creak underneath your hand.
You opened the unlocked door and yelled out for him. You called his name over and over until your voice started to give out as you searched the house for him.
The only sound you could hear was your heart beating against your chest as you opened his bedroom door. The room he had made love to you in so many times you could practically see it playing in your head as your eyes fell on his body that was tucked under the covers.
A sigh of relief escaped your lips as you softly said his name and approached him. He didn’t react so you laid a hand on his buff upper arm and shook him gently.
Again, no reaction.
Rolling him over was all you had left and when you did, you regretted it immediately and you let out a scream.
His eyes were rolled back in his head and there was blood soaking onto the pillows where you once laid with him. Immediately, you covered him with a blanket and tried to stop the sobs that erupted from you.
“I’ve already told you this would happen,” His voice sounded.
You closed your eyes and fell to the floor weeping. You didn’t want to see his face. No, not anymore.
But his warm hands were on your skin and his warmth pricked at you like thorns.
“I let you hide for a while. I let you get everything out of your system so maybe now, you won’t try to leave again. Do you see what happens when you do?” He pulled you up in a manner that was so gentle for such a rough man.
Pulling your hands from your eyes, you were met with the man who made you run away. Kim Jongin. The love of your life and also one of the highest ranking members in the mafia. Dangerous and poison is all he was but yet, somehow you felt comfort in his dark eyes.
You felt comfort in the arms of the monster.
You stared into his eyes and he gave you a smile that was pure evil. Pure evil in many ways but mainly in the way it made you remember why you loved him. The memories of being with him were torture but some of the best memories of your life.
You tried so hard to escape him because his work was dangerous and often times, someone you cared for had gotten hurt. You tried to leave it behind because you wanted a simple life but looking at Jongin now, you realized that even running away, you wouldn’t get that simple life.
Jongin wrapped you in his arms as you sobbed and he took you from the house where your best friend laid dead. Jongin had a way of giving you the best things in life and also taking away the best things. You couldn’t win with him.
He took you to the black car that was now parked out front of your ex-lovers house and you looked around, wondering how the hell he had gotten it out here and who he had helping him all this time.
You knew exactly who but you squeezed your eyes together tightly as you tried to push away all of Jongin’s mafia buddies and the memories that went along with them.
Jongin helped you into the car and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead as if you hadn’t done anything wrong and then he buckled you in.
You didn’t even bother trying to run because there was no point. Sehun and Yixing were probably somewhere around waiting to catch you if you did.
Now, there would be no escaping him.
Not only because you were out of energy but because no matter how fucked up it was, you still madly loved Jongin and seeing him after two years reminded you of that. You cried for your best friend and cried for all the time you missed with Jongin.
Jongin wasn’t a bad person deep down. He could just be bad and he was bad when something threatened your love.
If one thing was true, Jongin loved you more than anything. More than life and even more than the goddamn mafia that ruined your life.
He grabbed your hand over the console and gave you a wicked grin as he kissed your hand softly, his eyes falling over you instead of watching the road he sped down.
“Ready to go home, my love?”
You nodded without thinking and he smiled even brighter.
“We have so much to catch up on. You won’t leave me again, right? I can tell you missed me.”
“No, I won’t leave again,” you whispered and you were serious. You would stay with him not only because he would hurt more people you loved if you didn't but because no matter what you did you couldn’t get him out of your heart.
Maybe he wasn’t exactly a good person but you guessed you weren’t either since you had stood by him for many years while he killed people.
He just killed somebody you loved and instead of fighting him, you crumbled into him.
There were so many ways you needed Jongin and you realized that the moment you saw him. You wanted to seek his comfort when you found your friend dead and even knowing Jongin had done it, you still wanted him to comfort you while you grieved. Your brain couldn’t even separate him as the person who killed him.
How had you lived two years without him?
Well, you didn’t think about him and now that you were in his presence again, you didn’t want to leave.
Everything about Jongin had always drawn you in and that’s why it was so hard to leave the first time.
There wouldn’t be a second time.
Jongin pulled you in for a quick kiss and you felt yourself sigh.
Why fight the bad when you could just join it?

Wolves By Midnight (Reader Insert/ Choose Your Route)
It was finally Autumn. Whether you liked it or not was almost a mystery, you just knew that the world around you was beginning to calm down.
Unlike the calm scenery, this time of the year was busy. Between preparing for the holidays and completing school related things, you found yourself to be exhausted on most days, yearning for sleep.
One day, on your way to your next class, you walked past a group of nine boys, each varying in height and hair style. You noticed the way they talked to each other, as if they’ve probably know one another for years. You weren’t properly acquainted with them, but you knew them by name, as you shared class periods with a few of them. You also knew that four of them shared the same last name, if they were in any way related was a gray area to you.
The tallest whose ears peeked through his dark brown haired that also his left eye is Park Chanyeol.
The male with hair the color of honey and sweet smile is Zhang Yixing.
Kim Junmyeon is the male with his neatly combed wine red hair and dark brown eyes.
Kim Minseok is a shorter male with somewhat wide eyes and slightly chubby cheeks, his short brown hair spiked up a little towards the front and on the sides.
The curly haired male is Kim Jongin, his lips slightly curved into a small grin of sorts.
The last of the four males who shared the same last name is Kim Jongdae, who was currently talking to the other eight males standing around him.
Byun Baekhyun stood directly next to Jongdae, his hair is similar to Chanyeol’s, but darker and cut shorter in the front.
The last two of the group looked to be the quieter ones, and they were both almost solid blonds. The male whose hair was brown on the sides and blond on top is Do Kyungsoo, while the male with a slight look of displeasure had blond hair with light mixes of reds and blues was Oh Sehun.
It was interesting, seeing how they all looked and acted so differently, but felt that it was perfect in a way.
You knew of three other males that hung out with other nine, but you barely saw them. Was it because they were in another grade? Did they even go to the same school? It would possibly be something you wouldn’t know the answer to anytime soon.
Especially, not now. Class was about to start soon!
And with an almost silent thud, you bumped into a pillar in the hall, dropping whatever it was you had cradled in your arms. You leaned down to start gather your things.
At least nobody saw that…
Or so you thought.
The routes will be added here once they are all done, making it easier to navigate. In the mean time, I hoped you enjoyed it thus far~
It was the same dream you had visualized a while ago, but this time, things were much clearer and it felt much more real. You were smaller and younger, with just a glance down at your palms you could observe the thin fingers and the small nails. You were wearing a grey dress and a yellow rain coat and the idea of it being spring suddenly hit you. It was one of your memories that you happened to forget before the age of 7, and you could tell because things felt so familiar - you couldn’t have simply made this up in your subconscious out of thin air, the scenes felt lived in.
You were still surrounded by the colorful and peaceful pots of plants and the magnificent blue sky continued to shine down on you through the green house windows. The air was fresh and slightly damp, and the faint scent of all sorts of plants wafted to your nostrils. Things simply felt right, and then a boy appeared in front of you and you remembered that he asked you whether or not you liked flowers. He was taller than you and his hair was brown along with his energetic looking eyes. His thin frame was decorated with a simple blue sweater and black jeans, and you were almost mesmerized by his appearance because you recognized him at once. You apologized for not initially responding and you shyly nodded your head before a toothy grin tugged at his lips. He slowly held up a handful of seeds and gave it to you, this time becoming slightly shy.
It was the first time you met Chanyeol.
-
You wished that you hadn’t awoken from that dream, it was better than the reality you were living in.
Ever since Kyungsoo revealed your past to you, things had been rocky and depressing. You learned that your entire life was a lie, your parents were murdered, you had your memory wiped clean, a chip was implanted into your muscle, and you were adopted by the boss of a mafia - and here you were believing that your life was boring and uneventful. The worst part was that you threw away something that was so important to you, you tossed Chanyeol aside and left him for dead and now there was nothing you could do about it. He used to live in an orphanage near your house, and because your family shared a green house with the building’s inhabitants, you often met up with him in there. You two became best friends, and now that you had finally found him again, he slipped through your fingers and he was gone. Possibly forever.
It was the middle of the night, and you found yourself unable to fall back asleep in the cot. It was dark in the room, however because everything was mostly white, you were able to make out shapes in the shadows and find the path to the door. Kyungsoo had always politely insisted that if you ever needed anything, you should simply go to his room and ask him. You had also met Lay, the medical supervisor, a couple of times due to the fact it was his job to help your wounds heal. He was very sweet and caring and you were comforted by his personality and nature, and like Kyungsoo he had instructed you to find him whenever you needed anything, no matter the time or occasion. After tossing and turning a few times, you wondered whether or not a warm glass of milk could help you and that resulted in the covers to be pulled back and the heels of your bare feet to meet with the cold tile of the floor.
You slowly crossed the dark room and made it over to the door, slowly walking out and turning in the direction of their rooms. You honestly hoped that they were somehow still awake at this hour, although you heavily doubted it you didn’t want to disturb them from their sleep when they barely got enough of it. As you were tiptoeing down the corridor, you heard voices to your left, and because the door was slightly ajar, you were granted a small peek of what was inside. You instantly spotted that all the members of EXO were assembled around a table, and you froze because you didn’t know what to do. Should you interrupt the meeting or hobble back to bed? You were about to head back when Chanyeol’s name came up and you realized that you needed to stay.
You crouched against the wall next to the door and listened intently, realizing that they were attempting to formulate a plan to save the happy virus that was left behind. Your brows were furrowed as they argued different strategies and Kyungsoo’s calm voice had to soothe their increasing frustrations and tempers, reminding them of logic and plot holes. You could tell that they were all rather tired and frustrated, but what came next caused your heart to skip a beat.
“Why don’t we use the girl?”
You recognized the voice of Chen, however you even more surprised to find the laughter and the disagreements following his suggestion. What came next stabbed at your heart and you decided that it was time to go back to bed, you were too tired to deal with them anymore. You always knew that Kris was cold and rather bold, but you didn’t appreciate what he had to say about you.
“Are you kidding me? She’s a woman, do you honestly think she could save Chanyeol? He calls her Babydoll for a reason, she’s too delicate - she’s cracking right now in that room and she’s been through nothing.”
-
That morning you asked Kyungsoo if he would take you to the greenhouse.
Yes, it was a stretch because it wasn’t entirely safe and you knew that you would both have to sneak out because Suho would worry too much and he wouldn’t allow it. However, the thing was you needed something stable in your life, and the greenhouse seemed constant and it reminded you of the feeling of being home. You wanted some fresh air away from all the EXO boys, they had all been very nice to you, but you didn’t need to see them right now. The whole mafia business was the last thing you wanted ony our mind, and you decided to ask Luhan if he could help you and Kyungsoo get out without any questions. Luhan smiled and promised that he understood, and soon enough, you and Kyungsoo were in his car and driving to your childhood estate. The entire time your gaze was fixed on the world outside the window, and Kyungsoo retained light conversation, but he didn’t force you to speak.
The car was parked on the edge of the woods, and the rest of the journey was done on foot.
Kyungsoo was armed and his vision was alert as he observed the surroundings, making sure to be extremely cautious when approaching the small house concealed by the forest. There was a likely chance that no one was near the flower shed, but he wasn’t taking any chances. Soon enough, it was safe to cross the yard and he escorted you to the door before going in and investigating. It took about 15 minutes, but he finished a clean sweep and told you that he would be outside so that you could have your privacy inside the only place you actually felt comfortable calling home. He stood by the door and continued to watch the area, and you entered and felt your heart collapse at the rush of memories that flooded in your mind.
(Start listening to this song!)
You could see you and Chanyeol planting flowers and sharing secrets, eating lunch together and playing pretend. Your vision blurred with tears as you recalled that you had awoken only over a week ago in his embrace and had held him close. He still smelled of his rich cologne and his skin was scratched, but warm to the touch and inviting you closer. His face was so peaceful when he was sleeping and not worrying about whether or not you were okay, and you couldn’t help but wonder what his face looked like now. Was it pale and streaked with dirt and blood? Was he lying 6 feet underground? or was it pulled taunt around his skull as he inhaled his last breath of air? You were drawn to a cabinet that you remembered where you and him kept your most valuable objects, and when you opened it, you weren’t surprised to find that there were still items left behind.
Familiar toys, drawings, pots, packets of flower seeds, it was all coming back to you. The one thing that caught your eye though was a pile of documents, and it seemed to be about how Chanyeol was hospitalized after he was shot as a child as well as when you were adopted. You picked up a frame, and you froze when you recognized a younger version of not only yourself, but also your father. You were 9 and at your ballet recital, and he was unsmiling and in a black suit. Your entire body locked up as your eyes merely stared holes into the glass frame, observing all aspects of the ancient photograph and wondering what was going through your mind at that time. The idea that Chanyeol was suffering in a hospital when you were learning ballet caused a deep hatred and anger to rise inside of you. It felt like a bubbling bath of fury that was threatening to erupt all around you.
“She’s a woman.”
“Do you honestly think she could save Chanyeol? ”
“She’s too delicate.”
You didn’t realize that your fingers were clenching into fists, and everything happened in slow motion as you flung the frame across the green house and watched with satisfaction as it shattered in a heap of glass shards on the ground. Your movements were wild as your fingers grasped onto a box of matches on a stool nearby, and without a second thought you struck a match and watched with gritted teeth as you dropped it right on the photograph. The ink bubbled and blurred and the flames encased the image of you as a child with a liar. It crumbled into nothing but black fragments, and you slammed your boot on the ashes to finalize the damage done.
But your anger didn’t stop there.
You were sick and tired of people deciding things for you. You were furious that your “father” dictated your life and decided he was going to play dollhouse, he had absolutely no right to pluck you from your parents and stuff you with fancy computer chips until he could kill you when he didn’t need you anymore. You weren’t an object and you certainly weren’t delicate. You respected Kris as a leader, but he had a storm coming if he believed that you were “cracking” and unable to bounce back after what you had witnessed. It wasn’t fair that Chanyeol had taken 2 bullets for you and you were just lying around, wallowing in self pity and guilt. You loved Chanyeol, but no one was going to tear him from your embrace without expecting you to do something about it. He had taught you to breathe again and realize what life was like outside of grey walls and textbooks, he took your hand and protected you without a second thought. You realized that you had waited in your pristine paradise your entire life for your prince to save you from your boring life, and now that he was in trouble, you had to do something. You decided you were going to prove all of the EXO members and your father wrong, you weren’t going to sit around and twiddle your thumbs like a damsel in distress.
It was about time you climbed down from your tower and went to save your prince charming, and whoever tried to get in your way was going to face a feat worse than death.

Sorry this took so long, I had so much to do lately. There’s been a lot of work drama and tests. Hopefully I can write more :) BTW this chapter is supposed to be confusing! It’s okay if you don’t understand because the next chapters will explain more. Anyways, enjoy! : )
Your heart was hammering loudly in your chest and the throbbing of the blood pumping throughout your veins was the only sound you could hear. The palm that was practically clasping your chin and your mouth was cold, rough, and you could easily tell by the force exerted that he was being "gentle" with you. His voice was low and gruff as he used his knee to shove you forward towards the window, and you would have attempted to pull against him but he was too strong.
You always thought that you would be someone to fight back and save yourself, but you found that your legs were like jelly and it wasn't hard for your abductor to slam you against the glass of the window as he attempted to open it by pushing the latch to the other side. You vision was suddenly blurred by tears because at this point, you realized that you were actually scared for your life. You didn't have to guess when your felt your hands being roughly shoved together and bound by metal to know that you were being handcuffed, and your chances of escape were slowly diminishing.
You were so mad at yourself that you hadn't slept downstairs on the couch with Chanyeol, you were well aware that your prince charming was at the kitchen table sorting through documents and websites. He wasn't going to come up and save you because he had no idea what was happening to his princess, he didn't know that the dragon had been hiding in your castle. But this wasn't a fairytale, it was reality. You were the daughter of a Mafia Boss and you were currently being hunted, and this was the end. There was no prince climbing up your tower and saving you.
All your doubts were proved false as you felt something hard collide with your attacker and you suddenly felt a weight being lifted off your body. You turned in astonishment to see that Chanyeol had not only knocked your attacker to the ground and was now kicking him with fury, but he had also grabbed the gun from his hands and had raised it to aim right at the man's chest. You were shaking as you attempted to tear your gaze away from the violent scene, but it was already over as the man stopped struggling and instead passed out from all the pain.
You didn't know this, but Chanyeol had decided to bring you a glass of water and check up on you a few minutes after you went upstairs. He had opened the door to find the scene unveiling and he chucked the glass at the man's head, which caused him to fall to the ground and that was when he was able to spring an attack. Chanyeol was breathing heavy as he walked around the room and collected some rope and duct tape, effectively tying the man up and then stashing him underneath your bed before checking the contents of his pockets and swearing loudly.
Once he was semi satisfied with the job he had done, Chanyeol then turned his attention to you, and suddenly his scary image melted away at the sight of you. Your cheeks were streaked with tears and your hands were still bound by the handcuffs, your hair was a mess and you looked exhausted. A sigh left his lips as his eyes softened and he moved towards you to engulf you in a hug, he rubbed your back soothingly and told you that everything was okay now. He pulled away after a few seconds and alerted you that the two of you needed to leave permanently right now, the attacker had already alerted his gang to come over quickly.
You simply nodded while sniffling and Chanyeol took your hand while he guided you out of the door, the two of you needed to leave everything behind except for some food and other important things. He quickly ran throughout the rooms, refusing to leave you behind after what had just happened. Chanyeol led you down the stairs after a few minutes with only your coats, weapons, his belongings, and a yellow folder that you had never seen before. As he was going through the ingredients and food in the cupboards and the fridge, you questioned him about the contents of the envelope, but he told you that it was only research that you didn't need to look at.
You brushed it off as nothing and when he lead you out through the back door, you were surprised to find that he went over to the car hidden in the bushes that the attacker had been using. He opened the door with the keys that he had taken from the man, and you then noticed that there was something familiar in his palms as well. He then searched through the vehicle before letting out a sigh of relief as he retrieved something that almost looked like a calculator. You stared at it in confusion, but Chanyeol merely shook his head and placed it back, locking the door once more and throwing the keys into the grass somewhere.
He intertwined his fingers with your's and continued to lead you into the darkness of the backyard, and this was when you questioned where he was taking you. At first he was silent because he was concentrating, however he then spoke up and told you that the two of you would be staying inside the greenhouse until the afternoon came. He then explained that before he had taken you here, the members of their gang, EXO, had set up some precautions that were needed at the farmhouse. The old greenhouse deep within the backyard was somewhere for an emergency escape, and that would be where the two of you would sleep for the night just until you could figure out what to do in the morning.
He turned around to notice that you were shivering due to the cold, and he stopped to take his big coat and help you into it, making sure to zip it up afterwards as he kept walking. You were glad that it was dark out because not only could potential enemies not see the two of you, but Chanyeol also was unable to see how red your cheeks were. His black jacket was warm and it smelled of his rich cologne, and that made the whole journey into the woods a lot more enjoyable. He took you through rows of trees and trees until the two of you finally stumbled across the old and shabby looking greenhouse.
Due to the fact it wasn't near the house that had gotten burned down, it still remained intact however the glass roof had been recently replaced with a wooden one. Chanyeol took out a key from his pocket and unlocked the metal door before he opened it and let you go in first. It was surprisingly warm and you were surprised to find that there were rows and rows of empty ceramic pots. Your heart squeezed in a sudden feeling of love and familiarity, however Chanyeol was almost stoic as he walked in and pushed a rug away. You were too focused on the interior of small building to see him open up a trap door and usher you over, finally able to break you out of your thoughts by softly calling you.
You turned and stared as he began to go down a small hidden staircase, and that inspired you to follow him, getting extremely close to his chest as you had to squeeze past him so that he could close the trap door and cover it once more with the rug. Your back was practically against his chest as he finished what he had to do and smiled a bit at how you waited patiently for him to take you down. He complied to your silent wish by taking your hand and walking with you down the stairs, and you were shocked to find a couple of mattresses and a little fridge, some chairs and even a television in the small shelter.
Chanyeol told you to get some sleep as he placed a bunch of the things he had been carrying on a desk and sighed as he picked out the thing that had been in his clutch when he was searching through the stranger's car. You decided not to question him about why he had the object, but when he told you that he would be right back, your heart began to race as you realized that he would be leaving. You immediately sat up and stared at him with wide eyes full of fear, demanding to know where he was going and why he had to leave you alone after everything that had just unfolded.
He merely ran a hand through his hair as he gently sat on the bed you were on and took your hands in his, whispering that he was going to be back in only a few minutes and he would be as fast as possible. He told you not to worry and to get some sleep because when you woke up, he would be back and you wouldn't have to be scared anymore. Your lips were trembling slightly as he slowly eased you into a lying position and said good night to you for the second time, kissing your hand like he always did and making sure to wait until you slowly entered the dreamworld.
He then slowly walked to the staircase before leaving through the trap door and eventually the metal one, and that's when he began to run much deeper into the forest. As fast as his long legs would take him, he didn't stop even when he felt his lungs burning from the sudden activity. The male only slowed down when he reached a river that was hidden away and extremely secret, and that's when he began to get to work. He constructed a small container made of leaves and litter that he had found decorating the bank of the river, and when he was done he added the finishing touch, your necklace.
Without a second thought, Chanyeol tossed it into the water and watched with hatred as it began to travel down the stream and far away, knowing that it would get extremely far away from the two of you.

"Do you like flowers?"
The soft voice caused you to look up from the tulips that your small hands had been tending to, and when you did you only saw a smile. When your eyes attempted to make out more details of this person's face, you realized that it was simply blank. You couldn't remember their facial features. When you paused to take a look around at your surroundings, you realized that you were in the greenhouse. It was a much different building however, the roof was made entirely of the see-through glass that you had expected when you first walked in with Chanyeol.
You could easily look up at the puff white clouds and the bright blue sky despite the fact you were in the building. The racks of pots were no longer dead and filled with nothing but soil, they were instead flourishing with proud plants and flowers of all shapes and sizes. Something about the smell and fresh air told you that it was spring, and you felt as light as a feather as you took a deep inhale of the wonderful atmosphere. You simply felt at home here. After realizing that the person had asked you a question, you were snapped out of your thoughts before apologizing and responding. You shyly nodded your head and this person's equally small hands held up a few packets of seeds and presented it to you, causing a smile to tug at your lips as well. "
"Thank you, What's your name?"
"My name is - "

You woke up slowly and you were completely at ease to see that Chanyeol was on the other mattress, his white shirt unbuttoned and revealing a slight peak of his torso. It was still dark in the room that the two of you were currently in and that allowed you to deduce that it was still early morning. You had never seen Chanyeol sleep due to the fact he was always awake when you were, so as you sat up and walked over to observe his state of mind, you were honestly taken aback. He looked so...peaceful.
There was nothing for him to worry about when he was dreaming, there was no one to save or harm. His eyebrows weren't furrowed and he wasn't chewing on his bottom lip, he looked serene as you slowly climbed onto his bed and moved close to him. Despite the fact you had been underneath blankets, you were cold due to the fact the two of you were underground and it was an autumn morning. He reacted by slowly moving his arm to rest on your waist, gently bringing you even closer to him as he adjusted the blanket so that it covered your body as well.
His eyes slowly opened as they gazed into yours and a smile slowly crossed his face as his voice laced with sleep spoke softly, telling you good morning. You smiled as well and began to explain that you had a dream and wanted to crawl into bed with him, but he merely shushed you gently and told you that he was perfectly okay with it. He softly whispered for you to go back to bed, and after adjusting your position slightly, you closed your eyes once more and cuddled close to your prince charming.
Water dripped from the ceilings of the dark and quiet – almost quiet jailhouse. At random moments, high pitch screams cried out for justice and mercy. Keeping a calm face, I walked down an empty hall that led to a secluded cell.
“Good Morning, Sir,” greeted the policemen who guarded the cell.
“Good Morning,” I spoke then asked, “Is the suspect in there?”
“Yes, Sir,” he replied, taking his keys out to open the door.
I entered the tiny cubicle. It was cold and murky. A very murderous feeling struck through my body, like flashes of lightning. Soundlessly, I took a seat across the suspect – Yoon Hyebi. For the first few minutes, I observed her quietly. Her hair was disheveled, while her eyes were bloodshot. Momentarily, she shifted, her teeth clattered. A tear dropped and then…
“SIR! I AM INNOCENT! PLEASE HELP ME! I DIDN’T DO IT! I LOVE MY HUSBAND! WHY WOULD I KILL HIM?!” she hollered uncontrollably.
“You love him? Then what’s this?” I inquired, placing a few captured photos of her with another man.
“H-How did you get-t those pictures?” she stuttered.
Ignoring her question, I accused, “You killed your husband because he found out that you had an affair with another man, right?”
“NO! NO! It’s not true, no! I didn’t do it! Sir, PLEASE HELP ME! I DIDN’T DO IT!” she cried, pulling her hair.
Sighing, I leaned forward and spoke, “If you don’t tell me what really happened, then I can’t help you.”
There was a long silent pause but then she opened her mouth and whispered, “S-She said she’d kill my son if I told.”
“Who?” I asked, intrigued, though half-knowing the answer.
“I can’t tell you, my son--” she began but I cut her off.
“I’ll send police to protect your son, but you must cooperate with us,” I persuaded.
Closing her eyes, she started to spill out the truth, “I-I don’t know her name. She had long black hair and wore black clothes.”
I opened a manila folder and took out a picture, “Is it her?”
“YES! It’s her! I remember her grayish blue eyes! SHE KILLED MY HUSBAND! SHE DID IT! HELP ME, SIR! HELP ME! I AM INNOCENT!” she screamed, begging for mercy.
Calmly, I stood up and exited the cubicle. The guard nodded his head and locked up the cell.
I cursed under my breath, “________ ________.”
Deep in thought, I left the jailhouse. I despised _______ _______. For the past two years, she had been linked with countless murders and theft. In every case, she’d threaten someone into such a frightened state that they’d rather go to jail than to tell the truth and accuse her. I gritted my teeth, determined to capture her. I reached out to open the door of my Mercedes but was abruptly stopped. A dagger flew at lightning speed towards me. I jumped back to dodge it, but it left a light cut on my right cheek. With my right hand, I roughly wiped away the blood. My hand clenched into a fist. Slowly, but surely, I looked to the direction where the dagger had come from.
There she was – sitting on the roof of a car nonchalantly, with a smirk.
“Long time no see, Sergeant Lu. Wanna play cat and mouse?” she laughed, spinning her dagger with one finger.
Glaring at her, I cursed, “_________ _________!”
