𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍, he always tried to be respectful of marnie’s relationship with rotti, he didn’t try to do anything inappropriate with the way he interacted with her. yet ever since he had met marnie when he had performed the surgery for her friend mag, he hadn’t been able to get her out of his head. he had thought that he would be unlikely to see her again, maybe at a few follow up appointments with mag and at some events held by rotti. but she would come to see him at his lab, they would spend hours talking and he really felt like he was connecting with someone in a way that he never had before. that didn’t mean it was right. she was rotti’s fiancée, he should just step back and not complicate a situation. one kiss didn’t mean anything. he could make sure that it didn’t happen again, the first kiss didn’t have to happen, he could just move forward and act as if it had never happened. it wasn’t what he wanted, he hadn’t stopped thinking about that kiss ever since it had happened, but he wouldn’t do that to rotti and he didn’t want to keep doing that to marnie, it wasn’t fair to either of them.
𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏 𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐋𝐀𝐁 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆, heart beating a little quicker at the sight of her closing the door behind her and he had to stop himself from smiling at her. she really was so beautiful, that mess of dark hair and he couldn’t stop thinking about the way her lips had felt against his, how perfectly she had fit in his arms. as much as it was going to hurt him, nathan knew that he had to stop this before things got even more complicated, “ i’m really busy right now, marnie, ” he told her, his voice a little colder than usual as he went back to looking at the samples in front of him, trying to look busier and hoped she would just leave, “ is this something important? or can it wait? ”
