Eyes. Those damn eyes fucked me forever. We made love just by looking at them.
Charles Bukowski, The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over the Hills
Meadow Monster: Streye
The mysterious Streye is a bovine-like creature with an eyestalk extruding from its spine. Its body is soft to the touch, and if pressed on too hard, one’s fingers may dip through its skin, though this doesn’t seem to cause the monster any pain. It can retract both the eyestalk and tail end into its body, and can have them re-emerge from different locations.
A hungry tyrannabyss rises from the murky water of the abandoned bath house below “The Keep at Koralgesh” (Mark Nelson, new monster from D&D adventure by Robert B Giacomozzi and Jonathan H Simmons, Dungeon 2, TSR, Nov/Dec 1986)
