when I started shipping it if I did: i dont even know. i think i read some Ezionardo fics before i actually played AC2?? so thats when...my thoughts: they are cute and gross and like. i like them a lot. What makes me happy about them: their chemistry and their camaraderie and how they can be just friends or lovers but they’re still so important to each other. What makes me sad about them: that at the end of the day, they can’t be together, i guess? like i dont know if i can happy ending HC them.things done in fanfic that annoys me: idk honestly? like most fic ive read is spot on...things I look for in fanfic: ace leonardoWho I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: EzioSofia, Leonardo happily alone? My happily ever after for them: i can’t hc them happily ever afterwho is the big spoon/little spoon: Ezio is the big spoon, Leo is the little spoonwhat is their favorite non-sexual activity: Ezio watching Leo work. bc Leo loves his work so, so much?? and Ezio loves Leonardo, so what better than watching the man he loves do the thing he loves?

Ezio wasn’t one hundred percent sure who was hosting this party. His mother had insisted he go with them, to put up appearances that the Auditore family still had class enough not to reject an invitation to a fancy ball. Being old money, Ezio really didn’t have a choice. He would much rather be in the garage working on his latest client’s car or something. Just not going to a ball.
Claudia had insisted he get dressed up, but he fought her tooth and nail until they both agreed on an all black outfit of a tight fitting shirt, some faintly loose soft pants, knee high boots, and a simple but elegant black eye mask. Claudia had teased him, saying he would live up to being the Thief by stealing the hearts of every woman in the room. Mother warned him not to steal the hostess’s heart or there would be trouble. Ezio had only smiled and gotten into the car.
Now, here, he understood what both Mother and Claudia meant. So many women, in varying costumes from angels to gaudy peacocks, flocked to him. It was simultaneously easy and impossible to brush them off. It was easy to get them to leave, but they just kept coming back. Ezio was sure he spotted the hostess being distracted by Mother several times, with a warning wave of her costume fan at him as they went away.
Ezio sighed. “Excuse me, ladies,” he said calmly to the women around him before carefully pushing his way out of the mob and making a beeline to the refreshments table. He slumped his shoulders in relief when none of the women followed him and he grabbed a cup, filling it with punch.
“You seem to be attracting quite a bit of attention,” a voice said. Ezio jerked in surprise and whirled around, ready to tell the person off before he saw them smiling playfully at him. The person wore a very gaudy costume, something out of a 12th century painting. The mask he wore was the upper half of one of the theatre masks, revealing his smile on the lower half of his face.
Ezio sighed again and relaxed his stance. “Sadly,” he commented back. “I just want them to leave me be. They just won’t take the hint that I’m not interested. Quite the opposite.”
The person beside him laughed. “With such an array of apples to choose from, you are not interested?”
Ezio shook his head. “I am not interested much in apples,” he remarked, sipping his punch.
The person was silent. And then, “What are you interested in?”
The thief flashed the other a grin. “The forbidden fruit, my oddly dressed friend.”
“I’m dressed as art,” he retorted quickly. “I’m an artist.”
Ezio laughed. “Apologies, friend, apologies.”
The artist exhaled a sharp laugh. “Of course you are, Thief. Though those who bite the forbidden fruit are often not to be trusted with apologies.”
Ezio leered at the other person and he said, “And what would you know of the forbidden fruit, caro mio?” He was amused to see the blush peeking out from under the theatre mask.
After a moment, the artist stammered, “I-I’ve… Taken my fair share of bites of the forbidden fruit.”
Ezio raised his eyebrows. “Ah, I see.” He finished off his punch and set the glass down before speaking again. “May I know the name of my lovely companion, then?”
“That depends. Do I get to know yours?”
“Ezio. Ezio Auditore, caro mio.”
The artist hummed for a moment. “Leonardo. Leonardo Da Vinci, Thief.”
Ezio couldn’t help the lecherous grin that crossed his face. “The pleasure is infinitely all mine, Leonardo.”
I was glad Salai and Leonardo were so obviously in love in Brotherhood, I wasn't expecting it. However, I still imagined Ezio and Leonardo as old lovers, not together anymore, but still willing to relive old times in emotional upheaval. I was so happy at a little moment they put in, though it had nothing to do with my headcanon. After the pope is killed and Cesare poisoned, the next time you sit down with Leonardo, Leonardo talks about how he's starting to like the Mona Lisa. Ezio says something along the lines of "Don't let beautiful women distract you from making stuff for me". Leonardo then puts his hand on Ezio's back and says "Don't worry, beautiful women are no distraction to me". I DIED. Of course, then Ezio is like "Wait, what?!" and Leonardo moves his hand and looks sheepish, but really if this was a true RPG I would have been able to return his affections. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still so happy it happened, though. Ooooh, my OTP.
Ezio will wait there in the dark. All day and all night if he has to. Wait as the years and the centuries drift by. On the stairs before the altar in a small church of a ruined fort the ghost of an assassin waits for his long lost love.
Its been five hundred years but still he keeps faith that his Leonardo will come back to him one day. Until then he sits and looks forlornly down the aisle wondering where could his artist be?
