"is fable going to be woke" / "i hope they dont make it woke"
its been woke since 2004. the hero (player character) can have romantic (and sex) and marry any NPC in the game, regardless of gender (yes you can be gay). multiple in fact. you can also wear femme clothing.
fable 2 (2008) lets the player pick their hero (male or female) and like the first game you can romance any NPC (unlike the first game you can see whether the NPC is straight, gay/lesbian, or bi), and have multiple partners (this is how i discovered i was at most ambiamorous) -- though tbf in the game if the two spouses met it was very much considered cheating but lol.
theres a canon gay character that you help (at first you help out the guys father to find his son a wife only to find the son is gay. and the father did not freak out and accepted it, rather (iirc) just went: "oh that makes sense".
and at the end of the game when you buy fairfax castle? there is a literally a SEX CHANGE potion that changes the heroes sex from [xyz] to [abc]. i remember playing the game the first few times (even now) going: "man i wish i could do that IRL." (talk about an awakening).
fable 3 is much the same. i'm not 100% super versed on fable 3 as 2 or the first game even though, despite the flaws, i still enjoy it. but talking points here again.
people who bitch about "wokeness" are dumb.
I miss that "dark fantasy" era of games we had in the 2000s and early 2010s VERY dearly, speaking on aesthetics alone, though. Like specifically, Alice Madness Returns, Twilight Princess and the Fable series, are visually some of my favorite games out there.
