Lowkey if I was in charge of the DCU I would make soooooo many projects focused on the fab five 😭 Like Roy Harper/Speedy Origin Story Movie, Donna Troy Origin Story Movie, Fab Five Getting Together in the first Titans movie and then another Titans movie set a few years later 🙏. Nightwing TV show. Garth Movie. Wally Movie. Another Roy Movie (ft. Lian). Another Donna Movie. Outsiders Movie.
Me want more movie.
Personally, I think James Hook is the most terrifying member of the Fabulous Five. Because it's always the normal one you need to worry about the most, and you need to worry proportionally compared to how weird everyone else in the group is.
Hades is the eldest son of Cronus, the oldest of the Big Three, the God of the Dead and a being of unfathomable power. Maleficent is an exceptionally powerful dark fae who knows how to use her power to cause incredible amounts of destruction. Uliana, while her other parent isn't certain, is at least the daughter of Poseidon, either a demigod or a full goddess, and Poseidon's blood in her veins gmakes the amount of power she could have... well, let me put it this way- a sufficiently motivated Uliana, considering her parentage, could be an extinction-level event. We also know next to nothing about Morgie but his mother? One of the most terrifying beings in Arthurian mythology because hers is a power that cannot be controlled, cannot be stopped, only curbed or delayed. Sometimes, she is literally a goddess. With her blood in Morgie's veins, he also could very much be a world-ender. Those four are beings of incredible power, either explicit or implicit.
And then we have James. Who is completely and utterly human and mortal. Sure, he's nothing to turn a nose at, but he looks like exceptionally small potatoes compared to the other four. This mortal human teenager is running with these beings of unfathomable power capable of incomprehensible destruction, and not only is he keeping up with them with apparent ease, but they seem to consider him an equal. Which usually implies that he has something of equal or greater threat level up his sleeve. It's always the apparently-normal ones who are the most dangerous and considering how dangerous the others are, that is a concerning idea.
What does James bring to the table that got him the seat? What is he capable of that allows him to keep up with the rest of them?
What is James Hook capable of?
we had sausages last night for dinner and my dad said the skin of the sausages looked like that guy from the fabulous five
i think he meant ben grimm
Ive been thinking (the thought just occurred to me) in his early years with the titans, in some iterations we was very strict and bossy with them, and i like to think its him grasping for control over people his age since he was bullied and obviously struggled socially in schools
Him being bullied feels like something that should be more important to his character to me icl, its become this common thing I keep seeing in year one adaptations (tho I may be reading too deep into some of them) and like, I want to know how he struggled, I want to see him being messy and now that theres a group who havee to listen to him, I want him to be mean and to project because where else can he? Im sure bruce and Alfred tried to help, but in my own personal experience, parents never seem to know how to solve these issues and sometimes even make it worse.
I think it's once again a good time to say how much I appreciate the friendship in Lower Decks. They match each other's freak. They share hobbies and adventures. Wonderful!
Personally, I think the Fab 5 are far more worthy of the VK title than the Sea 3, Core 4, Dizzy, Celia, and other Isle kids. Because the Isle kids are the children of villains, but that doesn't make them villain children, as in child villains, it makes them children of villains. Imagine if we called everyone with a parent in jail a criminal kid instead of a kid with an incarcerated parent. They don't deserve that. The Isle kids aren't villain kids, they're kids from the Isle. And yeah, they cause trouble, but it's not really by choice. Those are the circumstances created by their upbringing and considering how minor their actions and crimes really are, I don't think faulting them for that is fair.
But the Five? They have made the choice to be villains, they want to be villains, that is what they are doing and going to do with their lives (villain and hero are extremely unfair oversimplifications and generalizations of the incredibly broad spectrum of morality but I digress.) They are villains, and they are children who are villains. That's why they're villain kids
Isle kids are not inherently villain kids, but the Fabulous Five are. That's why the Fab 5 are more deserving of the VK title than most Isle kids.
Doc Savage and his Fabulous Five (plus cousin, Pat) by the late, great John Casaday.
