This is the prompt I saw on someone else’s page that made me want to do this challenge, too. And all I could think of is the one character I have to use for this prompt: Neji Hyuuga (Naruto).

I started watching Naruto when I was... ten, I think? And Neji became my favorite not long after. It’s hard to believe it’s been over half my life since then and I’ve put so much emotional energy into a fictional character.. but I feel like he’s taught me a lot. Even when I haven’t actively keeping up with the series, and in a way, even when I had to (and still continue to) confront my emotions regarding his death. Whenever I try, I struggle to put my love and gratitude for him into words (even now as I’m typing this. xD)

I’ve been dealing with a lot of loss in the real world these past few days, so I thought it would be hard for me to get this done today. But it actually felt like a bit of a healing experience. The drawing ended up being fairly simple, but I’ll have a chance to do something more conceptually complex later this year when I work on his annual birthday drawing... Until then!
