The Lady of the Lake
Beneath the sun's reflected rays
Beneath the aimless tides
Beneath the silence; still, serene
Beneath the murk, she hides
She lies beneath the gentle waters
Beyond the grasp of light
Forgotten by the world above her
Safetly out of sight
Content to drift amidst the waters
She awaits the coming day
That she may offer victory
Or so the legends say
Within her grasp is ancient steel
A blade untouched by time
A once and future artifact
It's craftsmanship, sublime
She waits for someone at the shore
To seek that errant gleam
To take the sword of legends
And to wake her from this dream
She's left alone to wonder
Waiting for the future king
That the legends will remember
And of whom the bards will sing
She wonders if the rivers reach
The mountains from the lake
If a king beneath a mountain
Could be made to one day wake?
Do the rivers cross the waters
To that isle far away?
In the shadows of the tower
In the kingdom of the fey
Until the 'morrow comes at last
And the young king to the shore
The Lady of the Lake resides
Upon the lakebed floor
