DESCENDANTS: The Rise of Red
“When she talked, she could hardly keep herself from telling the most outlandish tales, as though her tongue could not tell the difference between truth and falsehoods. She began to trade in stories and lies herself, and while the other children delighted in her tales—so full of whimsy and enchantment—the elders knew better.”
“Once upon a time, in deep winter, a queen was admiring the falling snow, when she saw a rose blooming in defiance of the cold. Reaching for it she cut her finger and three drops of blood fell. And because the red seemed so alive against the white she thought, “If only I had a child as white as snow, lips as red as blood, hair black as a raven’s wings, and all with the strength of that rose.” Soon after a daughter was born to the queen and was named Snow White.”
And I often think, Why did I let her in? Didn’t I know she was bad? I did. Of course, I did.
modern + supernatural: what if supernatural creatures don’t exist anymore? what if they did once, but through the years, they slowly mixed in with humans?
↳ NAIADS. you can see the blood of naiads in the way a professional swimmer seems to command the water to help them. you can see it in how a cross country runner needs a water break more often than his teammates. you can see it in the way that one girl in your class always has a water bottle on her desk.
