everyone meet Porch Spider, the beautiful gigantic false widow that lives above my back porch. as a false widow, she's got the same body shape as a black widow, but they're only distantly related. the false widow tends to be dark brown, has markings on its abdomen that remind me of playstation buttons, and is less dangerous than the black widow. she's SO big (that abdomen is like the size of a grape) & moves so fast & scares me so bad but has been living there for abt a year & ive grown fond of her. an identical spider lived there prior before keeling over & getting replaced. i like to watch her when i smoke weed. she likes to repair her web on rainy days
so sorry for the terrible quality m stil a lil bit spooked by spiders but i thought this guy was neat! no idea what he is though
location is california

Hello, yes, hello, this looks to be a Noble False Widow (Steatoda nobilis), family Theridiidae. They are originally from the Canary Islands and Madeira, and have been spread to much of Europe and parts of North America.

Hello, little drifter! This is a triangulate combfoot, I believe!

Meet Herrah, the Kitchen Spider! My household has accepted her as an unofficial family member. My wife and bestie/roomie used to be afraid of spiders but they both find her really neat now and we are very careful with the blinds so we don't disturb her or hurt her by accident.
I believe she's a false widow! I think either Staetoda Grossa or Staetoda Nobilis. Looking at some pictures, she matches a Nobilis more than a Grossa.... But photos are very inconsistent. It's hard to find actual identification. Just pages and pages about how to get rid of them. Sad!
She's been there since she was a little baby and we are all attached now. We love our Kitchen Spider.
In the second picture, she's eating a tasty fly!
Isn't she pretty?
false black widow 🕷️ literally the spider emoji
Into the webbed lair. Cucumber Green Spider (Araniella cucurbitina)
[Arachnophobia Warning]
Same spider from my previous post, except here she is having a casual stroll up my arm
Absolutely precious 💖
