THE 1973 RICHARDS MOBILE HOME CE:2K UFO TRACE CASE - Columbia, Missouri. At around midnight, on June 28th, 1973, James Richards (41) - with daughter Vanea (16) and granddaughter Jamie (3) - heard a thrashing sound in the trees outside of their rural mobile home near Columbia, Missouri. Looking out of their kitchen window towards the direction of the sounds, the family observed “beams of light” emanating from the nearby tree-line. These beams then appeared to morph into a bright, silvery, “oval” object - about 15 feet across - which seemed to be hovering a few feet above the ground less than 50 feet away. Night became day as the object’s luminosity became blinding. The trees and the grass in proximity appeared to whip about (some branches breaking) as if in a storm gale. Richards retrieved his gun and then proceeded to call the police as the object slowly moved a hundred feet further away. Electrical interference seemed to affect the line, but the authorities were eventually summoned. The UFO then appeared to just “fade away” soon after this call for help. When the authorities arrived hours later, they were dismissive of the strange story and the visible traces. Within weeks, however, UFO investigators Ted Phillips, Ginger Phillips and Dr. J. Allen Hynek were on-site to take accounts and gather evidence from the affected ground and trees. Twisted branches and pressure “imprints” were documented. What happened here on this night back in 1973? It remains a UFO mystery. [Note: What also may remain is some evidence - as the location of this encounter may STILL display some visible effects from these events! More on this later.
