Feeling Nostalgic

You know lately I've been feeling extremely nostalgic thinking about the days when fans made RPG Maker fan-games for YouTubers and then those YouTubers made videos playing those RPG Maker fan-games. Some of my personal favorites are Hearts and Heroes (A Markiplier fan-game), The Boss (A Jacksepticeye fan-game), and FNAE World 2 (An EthGoesBOOM fan-game). Honestly, it's still a dream of mine to one day have my own RPG Maker fan-game based on my channel and the games I've played. If the time ever came that a fan made an RPG Maker fan-game about me, I would happily play it. But realistically, knowing how small of a creator I am, I doubt that'll happen.

Weird Dream

Last night I dreamt about a new... well... "Switch Game" might be pushing it. But... Nintendo released a software that allows anyone - and I repeat ANYONE - to upload their fangames, and those games are stored on Nintendo's servers for free, for other users to download and play. Yes. The main menu looked like the menu of New Super Mario Bros. Wii / U (with the big buttons and stuff) and there you could choose and filter all these fan games. I played one game with completely unique sprites, it looked like a game made with The Games Factory. In fact, it totally looked like something that could be hosted on MFGG (Mario Fan Games Galaxy). The first level was weird, Mario was in jail and he was wearing those striped jail clothes. You had to solve a very cryptic puzzle in order to advance to the next level. After countless tries, I figured it out somewhat randomly (something about the walls not actually being there, despite the sprites showing them) and advanced to the next level, which was a 2D platform level. I don't remember much anymore, except that it was very "fan-gamey", if that makes sense. Such a thing with Nintendo allowing and even hosting fan games would never happen - except in our dreams.
