Butter your bread (generously) and then fry it on both sides in a hot pan until it is your preferred level of browned. Use a thick slice of bread if you can, this leaves the center chewy and the outside crispy.
HIGHLY recommend trying it, it's so good. A good sourdough will work but my wife and I would get Tombstone bread from a grocery store in our hometown. It's also called coffee can bread i think? It's round and super fluffy, ideal for this.
The balsamic glaze is essential, I can find it in most grocery stores but it's like a sweetened balsamic vinegar. Completely black and absolutely delicious. Herbs can be whatever, i usually use parsley but sage and thyme are also really good in there.
