Can we stop pretending that Alastor is a Dad to Charlie?
Protect NOT control. Alastor pretends to protect but is actually controlling Charlie.
Guide without dominating. He gives advice in the form commands and manipulating.
Listen & Respect. Alastor is constantly judging her and finds her misery amusing.
Encourages Independence. Yes, Alastor does encourage independence but it is mostly for his entertainment to watch her fail.
Love Unconditionally. Alastor's love is conditional and manipulative. He values her as like a companion or an experiment. He only praises her when it entertains him. He withdraws and teases her when she disappoints.
Does this look fatherly to you?
Notice how he gets uncomfortably close to Charlie? No, that's not how a Dad should act. At all.
He calls her “dear” or “my dear”, which sounds gentle, but it’s laced with condescension.
He enjoys watching her idealism clash with Hell’s cynicism
He undermines her authority subtly, often doing things for his amusement instead of genuine support.
So while he acts older, wiser, and authoritative around her (which gives off “parental” energy) it’s more like a teacher, puppet master, or mentor with a dark sense of humor. He is not a nurturing father figure.
Rolling around in her bed too as a Dad is insane.
He does not act like a Dad to Charlie at all.
Constantly tries to undermine her.
Touchy but not in fatherly way. More flirty like he is with every woman. Yes, he's ace. Ace people can still be attracted to other people or desire romantic connection.
Charlie is older than Alastor by 170 years.
Charlie already HAS a father. She doesn't need another.
Guys, he was only trying to get under Lucifer's skin.
Bro is touching the boobies. Are we deadass?
"Dear, if I wanted to hurt anyone here... (voice becomes distorted) I would have done so already." - Alastor threatens her here which is not very fatherly.
"Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel, a misguided path to redemption! Founded 5 days ago by Lucifer's delusional daughter, Charlotte Morningstar! Come place your fate in her inexperienced hands, as she tries to work through her daddy issues by fixing you!" - This sounds like more of a mocking way of addressing Charlie. He acknowledged she has daddy issues but it alluding to Lucifer. He is aware of who her father is and by no means assists her in trying to promote this Hotel. Instead he acts petty since he is forced to use television which he despises.
“Nonsense! (grabs Charlie and drags her forward) We started the hotel together, and we'll show it off together. Right, Charlie?” - This honestly gives off friend vibes to me.
♫I'm truly honored that we've built such a bond. You're like a child that I wish that I had. I care for you just like a daughter I spawned. It's a little funny, you could almost call me Dad!♫ - This line was an attempt to make Lucifer jealous for whatever reason.
To address the Dad situation. Yes, Alastor was trying to get under Lucifer's skin. Alastor despises anyone that will take Charlie's attention away from him and will pretty much do anything to have control over Charlie. If Vaggie wasn't Charlie's girlfriend, Alastor would have definitely played the boyfriend card to just piss off Lucifer but instead went the Dad route. No, its not about being a Dad. It's about power.
Alastor felt threatened with Lucifer coming along due to his importance in Charlie's life. Vaggie is not much of a threat since Charlie usually doesn't listen to her anyways or really anyone's reasoning apart from Alastor's.
Like are we watching the same show? Alastor is not a Dad to her in any way shape or form and its insane I gotta say that. Yeah, we got the whole Dad Song but his actions say otherwise. Inappropriately touchy.
He TAKES ADVANTAGE OF HER BY STRIKING A DEAL? Still very Dad like? Nope. A real Dad wouldn't manipulate his daughter.
Call them friends. Call it a ship. Call it a fucky wucky relationship. Who cares. But they are NOT in a Dad/daughter relationship.
