TFC Fanfics Recommendations!

Alright, seems like you guys liked the idea of a TFC fic recommendation list, so here we go! Hehe~

Disclaimer! TFC is a +18 game, thus, every fic stated here is a well. So minors please go away, shoo shoo!

I will be adding a 🌶️ besides the name of the fics with smut, but for any other disclaimer besides that you should check out on AO3 itself before reading the fanfic.

(It took me a few days to gather all of these, so some fics already have more chapters posted then listed here >w<)

Description: Of course I had to start with my favorite fic of all times! This one presents us with a depressive MC that will have to go through a lot of stuff because of the circus. It’s an extremely fluffy but depressive history that sometimes feels like knives twisting your emotions. If you ever had depression before it will remind you a lot of those times, but it will also be comforting since the history brings up a lot about caring for others and overcoming a traumatic past. It's extremely cute and has a lot of bittersweet moments. This fic will always have a special place in my heart <3

From The Sea To The Stage 🌶️

Description: Another one of my favorites! Hehehe~ In this fic we follow the history of Pelagia! (Yes, MC is NOT the protagonist) she’s a cute jellyfish creature that joins our crew while they were still back in Brasil and stuck under the ringmaster claws. There’s a lot of comedy on this one that makes me laugh a lot while reading, but don’t think it’s all roses and rainbows, this is one of the few fics that managed to actually made me have to hold back my tears as I was reading it on a packed bus going to university. (I’m not easy to cry over fics, so it is quite a great deal lol)

Not my circus! (TFC x reader)

Description: MC wants to help her best friend to get over her fear of clowns, but she’s the one who ends up fearing them instead… PEAK writing, my favorite fanfic that depicts a MC that wants to run away from the main crew. Managed to make ME cry (no easy feat). The first and ONLY fic to ever make me actually scared of Pierrot, cause I tend to just overlook his madness. This fic managed me to feel all the possible emotions a human can, I was happy, I was sad, I was scared, EVERYTHING! It’s like a roller coaster of emotions, so buckle your belts before starting!

Wretched, Reckless Romance 🌶️🌶️

Description: Another one of my favorites! This fic starts after day 2 events. MC is a tad wild and I LOVE IT, they’re extremely horny too, so be prepared hehehe. The author separates the smut chapters in 2, one with a V for females and one with P for males so it’s incredibly inclusive! Not only do they change the body parts/words spoken but the motions too for more realism! It truly feels like an extension of the game, it has amazing writing and a great following of events so far.

‘SPIRAL DOWN THE FREAK SHOW’

Description: MC ends up in a coma in the present, so her soul decides to possess someone else’s body in the far past, as a worker of the circus when it was still run by the ringmaster and our crew was kept as prisoners monsters. The story has a bunch of heart racing moments, no smut at all so far, found family vibes, lots of gore (very well described btw, chefs kiss). I can’t say much more without spoilers, but this fic is in my top 5 for sure. Highly recommend! <3

Description: MC from our world dies and gets reincarnated in the past of the TFC universe, they’re not human anymore, but a monster just like our crew. Knowing what they know about the game, they decide they will help everyone escape from that dirty ringmaster's hands. It has found family vibes. Some gore on the side, cause why not? Doesn’t have any smut yet, but I wouldn’t doubt the author might add in the future. Some dynamic scenes that I love as well.

Description: In this story you’re a normal person from our world, who ends up dying and having your soul transported into the TFC universe, but it’s a bit different. In this universe soulmate marks exists, so imagine your surprise when you realize you have 6 soulmate marks that match the clowns from a game of your previous life. It has LOTS of gore (yummy yummy). I put the smut warning in title cause even tho there isn’t any yet, from the way this author writes I'm sure there will be in the near future lol. We gotta save Carol from our soulmates guys.

Description: In this story MC is a merfolk (like mermaid), her kind uses songs for basically everything in their daily lives, but MC was born with vocal cords problems and is treated as a liability until her pod decides to use her as a sacrifice for the leviathans who live deep in the trenches. It’s a lot about accepting who you are despite your flaws. It has some religious implications as well that made me a bit uncomfortable at first but were really interesting to the point I couldn’t stop reading! (I feel like I should mention I really got invested into 2 background characters [OCs] as well)

Limerence 🌶️

Description: Here we have a wonderful, male, traumatised, aromantic MC. One of the few fics with a MC that genuinely puts up a fight against Pierrot’s affection and craziness. Incredibly well written. Depicts the depths of realistic emotions of those two traumatized characters incredibly well. I wanna punch MC in the guts sometimes but then I start laughing like a maniac because of how fun he is. I simply love this one, it’s the pure juice of chaos and I'm here for it. I put the smut warning up there cause even tho there isn’t any reeeallyyyy smut yet in this fic, I’m pretty sure it might have in the future cause of other works I’ve seen of this author (and believe when I tell ya they’re all amazing hehehehehe~)

Chasing Warmth (I don't remember if it has smut or not, but I don't think it does)

Description: MC has escaped from a lab and isn’t human, but they learn to pretend to be one so they can hide from him. The story takes place in the same modern period as the game and it’s really a fun adventure to see MC pretend to be human. It has some sick dynamic scenes. I don’t remember if there’s heavy gore, but I know there is quite a bit of good violence on it. A sweeeeeeet romance that blooms and the rest you will have to read to figure out. Hehe~

Description: MC dies in the modern world and reincarnates in the past of the TFC universe. Without knowing where he was but wanting to survive,he decides to grab the first job that shows up: a caretaker of some circus monsters. It has a nice poly relationship with them all. Some delicious smut. Very good storytelling and lots of action if I remember correctly. Some scenes left me speechless in a cool way, that I do remember lol.

Our circus crew is extremely wary of this weird “human”, so how will this story go? Hehe~ The author has confirmed that there will be smut in the future of the fic as well, so that’s why the warning is there even though there’s no smut currently.

People going 'Dokhyuk enjoyers must be fuming over canon slender KDJ' and I'm here like... No? That's the point??? Slender, slinky top Kim Dokja railing buff, bigger than him, slutty bottom Yoo Joonghyuk? Why would I be upset about that lol?

If you need all your tops to be bigger than your bottoms, you're missing out on some fun dynamics. I mean you do you, I'm not going to yuck your yum, but if I only ever read one side of the dynamic I would be missing out on some amazing stories at the end of the day

Then again I personally enjoy versatile JD/DJ so I find it hard to justify pouring energy towards being upset at this stuff 😭 plus if you're going to be negative towards JD enjoyers you're only poisoning the water for future DJ writers.

Still we need more Vers-Kdj/VersYJH or bottom YJH, the sheer difference between the two in fic amounts is devastating;-;

AU where it’s a vibes based impressions soulmate world. Basically, if you spend time with someone compatible with you, they leave impressions of themselves on your soul (whatever that means), and you can feel what they would think or do in your position or how they feel things. It’s stronger or weaker depending on the level of compatibility and how long you’ve spent with them as well as how well you know them.

So, cue Marc who has looked up to Valentino for his whole life finally meeting him for the first time as a starry eyed teenager. That 2 second meeting creates a deep impression of Valentino on himself and it ends up being part of the reason why Marc's so good on track because he can hear Valentino's voice in his head and he can feel what he’d do with the bike. Marc ends up having to learn how to ride the bike all over again. It takes a while but by then he’s unstoppable. 

Then, when Marc and Valentino are finally part of the same class, Valentino is finally able to put a name to the vague impression of a person he’s had for years. The insane and crazy jolts of impulsive moves on track from the impression are revealed to have been Marc all along. Just by that, Valentino knows that he and Marc have something special. But, as their relationship grows stronger, Marc keeps getting better and Valentino starts to grow paranoid. Especially since his impression of Marc is growing weaker (it’s literally because he’s ruining the relationship by being paranoid but he's delulu and can't realize that. Uccio is doing numbers on him) .

On the other hand, Marc's Valentino impression is as strong as ever, and he's acting just as Valentino's impression is always asking to do, the quick wit and jokes only adding to Marc's charm when filtered through his own thoughts. But, Marc's impression of Valentino is not the real Valentino, it is the young Valentino who would have loved Marc as much as anything, not the dark and deeply flawed grown up Valentino.

The young Valentino that lives on in Marc's impression is always up for all of Marc's fun and lighthearted "mind games" and can move on even if he sulks about it, and impression-Valentino always is happy to egg Marc on to be fun and cringey. That's why Marc genuinely does not understand why the real Valentino is growing further and further apart from him. Their real relationship is so off, but his impression of Valentino is joyous and warm, something that seems so full of life and strong.

And one of the worst parts of it all is that even as the relationship between Marc and Valentino begins to strain, the impression that Valentino has of Marc is still his strongest impression by a mile. Maybe Valentino's impression of Marc is so strong that it almost feels like Marc is beside him, that he can feel the impulsiveness, competitiveness, hunger, and mental fortitude almost like it is his own. Valentino doesn't need to be told that Marc is quite simply not normal with his mental strength, he can fucking feel it. He can feel the never-give-up-ness of Marc's thought process. It begins to scare him and disgust him in equal measure. And it ends up fucking with his head because he himself doesn't know where that hunger ends, where it leads to.

Like imagine 2015 Sepang, where Valentino swears that he can taste Marc's determination to keep him behind like it's caught in his teeth, and just like anything caught in his teeth, he can't stop running his tongue over it until it gets unstuck. He ends up kicking Marc off just to feel all of that stone cold determination cut off into jumbled chaos. The foundations of Marc's affection for Valentino get shaken, and so Valentino's impression of Marc quiets. It doesn't stay that way, but it's muffled. When their relationship gets better again, it clears up a bit, but once their relationship gets worse again, it returns to that more muffled state. And yet, it's still the strongest that Valentino has.

Then imagine that after Marc closes himself off from the grid, he barely gets any new impressions from anybody on the grid. All of the rookies are firmly in Valentino's court, or they smartly keep their distance. Even being near Marc is more bad PR than it's worth. So Marc gets a bit lonely, only left with his old impressions, and ones from his closest friends and family. There is no warmth in the paddock for him anymore. Marc longs for that easy love from everyone that he took for granted when he had it.

The worst part is, that the normal impression collage that he would get from the entire grid is just absent, a void where normally he would have a pulsing wave of impressions, whether the impressions were weak or barely there. There's a solid wall of we-refuse-to-bond-with-you across half of the grid, and it's been long enough that even Marc's Valentino impression, has begun to lose its edge and color. The young Valentino and this new older Marc are growing further apart, evidenced by the fact that his impression of Valentino is starting to fade. Even with the few rookies and younger riders on the grid in his corner, it isn't like how it used to be. Back when he first got into motogp, even riders who didn't like him would leave impressions. Like Jorge's impression, who even at the worst points of their relationship, would always feel like a cool and steady balm of calm on Marc's shoulders.

So, then we cut to when Valentino's finally left the grid and Marc’s back after his injury and at Ducati. All of a sudden, the VR46 academy riders can form their own opinions of Marc and what they all discover is that he’s lovely. He’s suspiciously like Valentino in some ways and it’s crazy how a complete nothingness of an impression (something that was always so odd about Marc to them) becomes an incredibly strong impression and it’s clear that he’s not what they expected at all because why is a guy who’s like five years older than them mothering them and pestering them. Like why is Bez's impression of Marc screeching at him while he’s on his bike telling him when to break and when to push (he's fucking trying! Shut up Marc!). And why is Pecco’s impression of Marc a literal fucking specter like ten feet in front of him who is always getting up or walking away and waiting for Pecco to follow, always watching him carefully with his deer eyes as he gracefully stalks through Pecco’s world leading him to where he needs to go (everyone says he seems more confident and sure of himself, but he’s just following the Marc impression he has. When they compliment him, they're not even really complimenting him so much as they are complimenting Marc—).

Basically everyone eventually has a meeting where they talk to each other about Marc’s impressions on them and while it’s deeply personal to talk about impressions, they can’t help but say something about it because he has the most unique impressions they’ve ever seen. (Does it perhaps represent how much he cares? Does that mean that all along they missed this? It doesn’t bear thinking about).

For comedies sake, imagine a very confused and scared Pecco making a reddit account on r/impressions and asking if anyone else has a ghost-like impression that literally leads them everywhere and doesn’t talk at all, is just visually there and watching them. The entire comments section has people thinking that it’s a hoax or being gobsmacked because what on god’s green earth. Some people mention that they can see vague inklings of a person, but usually only a hand or a visual kind of mirage, that doesn’t actually inhabit the space, just an image that fades and doesn’t actually fit in their environment 3 dimensionally. Some people are asking him to message them privately so they give their contact information to see if they can study him. Pecco doesn’t respond, but apparently things like this, though less extreme, can happen so maybe it’s not completely weird?

Anyways, this is my offering to the world because this has been sitting in my drafts for like seven months
