I think Taran from The Black Cauldron gets way too much hate. Sure, he be impulsive and whiny, but he also has a good heart. He also apologized to Eilonwy for his sexist behavior and never acted like that again [in comparison, Book/Prydain Taran was sexist for the first two books, and Book Dallben sent Eilonwy away in the third book for sexist reasons as well. The book fans can say what they want about the Disney version, but I genuinely think that The Black Cauldron improved a lot from the books, specifically Eilonwy's treatment and Taran's behavior. Gurgi's sacrifice is more emotional then Elidyr's as well, because Gurgi was mischievous but well-meaning, while Elidyr was nothing but a big bully]. It gets me that other Disney characters who do worse things and act in worse ways usually get off scot-free, but Taran is hated on by the entire Disney fandom. Similarly, the scene in Once Upon A Studio where Taran is overshadowed by the princesses [yet Eilonwy isn't, don't get me wrong I love Eilonwy, but it's not fair she didn't get overshadowed while Taran did], annoys me as it feels like Disney themselves making a jab at Taran. Kind of similar to how Warner Brothers treats Scrappy Doo.
