I agree Louie Duck deserved to be grounded for his actions in Timephoon, though I feel Launchpad should've been called out for not stopping him in the first place. And as painful as it is, I can understand him being left out of the Big Rock Candy Adventure, though I do wish that there was a promise to take Louie another time when he's ungrounded, heck, maybe Louie wouldn't even had tried to sneak out had they promised that. But I feel like using the DT-87 robot, which was built by Gyro Gearloose, whose inventions always TURN EVIL or BACKFIRE in some way, was way too far. True, it only zapped Louie when he tried to sneak out, but again, this is GYRO, it would've eventually turned evil had the villains not destroyed it. It's eyes even TURN RED when it's mad! Not to mention that while Bouncer Beagle wasn't affected by it, that was only because of cartoon logic which Louie doesn't have, as evidenced by Louie WINCING IN CLEAR PAIN whenever the DT-87 zapped him. Della saying "if you want to be a part of this family, you've got to stop" was also wrong, but I genuinely feel like the DT-87 thing was much worse. Della KNEW that it was a Gyro invention, likely knew it was capable of hurting people, KNEW for a fact that there was always a possibility of it turning evil, but still chose to use it as a babysitter/prison guard/ glorified zookeeper for Louie. There is a CLEAR difference between a normal grounding and LOCKING SOMEONE IN THEIR ROOM WITH A LAZER CAGE. Basically, Louie was isolated and treated less then human, sure he got [probably] got food, water, and bathroom breaks plus the occasional call, but that's the bare minimum. He doesn't deserve video games or movies when grounded but at least let him read books or play with a toy. Note that the family only seems to call when DT-87 is hyperfocused on catching Louie in the act. And when the family is going back to the mansion? It says a lot that while Della says she's worried, Huey says that "the DT-87 hasn't reported a scheme in the past 24 hours", which, while likely unintentional by the writers, seems to show that the family is only concerned with Louie sneaking out and not any of the other possibilities of what might happen to him. This doesn't even just include the DT-87, what if there was a fire at the mansion, an earthquake, or any other disaster and Louie couldn't escape all while the family were enjoying their Louie-free time at Big Rock Candy Mountain? Della got VERY lucky that Louie just out schemed the villains instead of joining them or getting hurt by them. I wonder if the same people in the Ducktales fandom that defend Della using the DT-87 would've still defended her had she slapped Louie in Timephoon or locked him out of the mansion in Richest Duck In The World? While both of those thankfully didn't happen [and would've been OOC, but that still is no excuse for the DT-87], I can't help but get the sinking feeling that people still would've been 100% on Della's side. While Della did get better in Season 3, she really only bonds with Dewey as she casts aside Huey's interests for more "adventurous" things [while ignoring Huey doesn't like the same things she does] and only tried to bond with Louie in one episode [Escape from the Impossi-Bin]. I don't completely hate Della, but I don't think she really improved that much by the end of Ducktales 2017, and I wish fans were allowed to criticize her without her fans bashing on Louie or acting like Della is almost always 100% in the right. Glomtales had a good concept [exploring an episode from the perspective of a grounded kid], but the execution [ESPECIALLY THE ENTIRE DT-87 SCENARIO] was horrid. Nancy from Big City Greens has a better version of Della's arc IMO, and I don't even like Big City Greens!
