“Solly!!” Mooney grinned, selling the paper he had in his hand before trodding over to the other newsboy. He didn’t have a limp anymore, which he’d gotten from the last time Soldier-boy and he were together, messing around with the Delancey’s. He was all healed up.

“Long time no see!! I haven’t seen you in this part of Brooklyn!! What are you doing in the ‘ridge?” Bay Ridge was Mooney’s turf, it was the tip of Brooklyn where the ferry docked to bring people over to Staten Island. Unless they had friends there, most newsies skipped it if they were heading into Brooklyn- Coney Island being a couple stopped after.

My babies!!!! So this is my day 1: First encounter! Spot and Mooney, known by that time as Gabby and Eoin, first meet during a Ward Call (when all the neighborhoods of Brooklyn meet up) during winter. It’s freezing and Gabby (Spot) doesn’t know what the hell to make out of Eoin- a strange creature with the dopiest ear defect Gabby had ever seen.. the strangest, and the thing that flusters him the most, is that the stranger actually uses Spot… Gabe’s chosen nickname…

Oh!! It’s around 1892- which would make Spot 12 and Mooney 11! I’m experimenting with a new style, which I really like.

I really like how Spot looks with the coloring and the style- so I think I might do the whole month in it and try to see if I can guide my normal style more that way!! I had a lot of fun drawing this- I have been nervous about Spooney (Spot and Mooney) just because they are so close to my heart and I love them so much.

“My favorite lil’ bother!!” Mooney grinned, scrunched up from the heat of the day. It was unusually pretty out, however the heat had also come down within the evening with a humidity that promised rain during the night.

Lil’ Flame head snapped in Mooney’s direction, clapping like one of those toy monkey with cymbals. It began making unusual gestures with its hands, it looking much like babble or nonsense as it rambled.

It paused to pull out a paper, one from the Journal, yet another trophy from today’s good work. The young newsie bared its teeth, more like an animal trying to smile or a baby who hadn’t done so before.

idk if this is just a me thing or if it's a universal fansie experience, but whenever I see like a date that was like over fourty years ago I'm like wOAH that was x amount of years after/before the newsboy strike of 1899!

Like, OMG 1920! That was 21 years after the newsboy strike of 1899!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but according the the troubadour wembley park theatre website, Newsies will be running from Nov 28th-Feb 18th. I cant find anything newsies website that says anything about this yet though (it just says starting 28 November Strictly Limited Season) and obviously the date can always be changed but this is what the theatre website says right now
