On a accroché une étiquette autour du cou de Levi dès son plus jeune âge, sans lui laisser la moindre chance, portant les stigmates d'un héritage lourd, marqué par la faute de son parent déserteur, ancien·ne membre des dragonniers aujourd’hui pointé·e du doigt pour sa faiblesse et son abandon. Chaque jour, l’aspirant dragonnier encaisse regards de mépris et murmures accusateurs, mais refuse de ployer l’échine, de se soumettre au poids de celleux qui ne le connaissent pas vraiment. De ce fait, il s'entraîne avec une intensité qui frôle parfois l'obsession, trahissant sa cruelle réalité : inconsciemment, il ne cherche pas seulement à prouver sa valeur aux autres, mais aussi à lui-même.  Être pétri de contrastes intérieurs, il dissimule ses propres doutes derrière un humour souvent décalé — frôlant parfois même le ridicule. Une tactique qu’il utilise jusque dans ses entraînements, préfère largement qu’on ne le prenne pas au sérieux pour mieux prendre au dépourvu la seconde suivante.
