Creator Signups for FTH 2022 are open!

Be sure to read over our newly-updated FAQ, along with our post about a couple of changes in signups this year.

If you are a first-time FTH creator, you should also take a look at our list of tips for first-time creators (repeat creators might find some helpful info here, too!).

Once you've done all that, and you know what you want to offer, head on over to the signup form! Remember that you need to fill it out once for each auction you want to offer, up to three total.

The signup form will be open until February 13 (you also have until then to edit your signups; after that you'll have to email the mods directly).

So there’s a fanworks charity auction in aid of Ukraine running and I signed up.

Though I mostly write Star Wars fic under this pseud, I’ve written for two decades in fandoms huge (LOTR) to medium (Austen, LMM) to tiny (several Yuletide-sized book fandoms). I’m not a fast writer, but I’m reliable; I have yet to default on an exchange commitment. 

This is a bit nerve-wracking because I’ve never done an auction before, but I’m very excited and really keen to work with my bidder to develop a story that’s just what they were hoping for! (And the worst that can happen is no-one bids, in which case I’ll donate the money myself.)

Which nonprofit(s) will you support in this year's auction?

Every year, we put together a focused list of small, progressive nonprofits that are making the world a better place on a very small budget. When you participate in the auction, you have a chance to help those amazing organizations out while also enriching your fandom!

This year's list of supported organizations is permalinked at the top of our tumblr, but we have also made more in-depth introductions to each of them. This post contains links to all of those introductory posts, so you can find them easily.

We're posting this now to help creators figure out which organizations they want to support with their fanworks. (if you've signed up already, you can still change your answer by editing your signup! Just use the "edit" link from your google forms confirmation email.) But we'll also be sure to reblog this post once bidding opens on February 23rd, so bidders can start to think about which organizations they want to donate to.

FTH updates and reminders

Happy August, everyone! We hope you're all staying safe and well. We wanted to give everyone a couple of updates and reminders, as well as let y'all know about something we are working on for next year.

1) So far, we have 97 completed fanworks (including fan labor) for 2021. This number comes from the responses to our completed fanwork form. if you've finished a fanwork or fan labor for FTH but haven't filled out the form to let us know about it, please do so here!  You can watch those fanworks roll in by following our 2021 fanworks tumblr.

2) The fanwork completion deadline for both FTH 2020 and FTH 2021 is December 31st, 2021. If you haven't finished (or started) yet, don't worry -- you've still got plenty of time! That being said, now is a great time to drop a note to your creator and let them know you're still planning to finish their fanwork, and to update them on your process or progress.

3) We’ve just reblogged the post separately, but we want to mention it here too: some Hungarian fans are organizing a bilingual Black Widow auction supporting Hungarian LGBTQ+ organizations! Super exciting, and super well-timed to coincide with the new movie! 

As a reminder: we are happy to provide start-up support (as we did for these organizers) for anyone who wants to organize either an auction or a fanworks-for-donations exchange. Just drop us a note at fandomtrumpshate at gmail if you're interested!

4) One of our goals for next year is to expand our reach into a wider range of fandoms, and we are in the early stages of working up a "fandom ambassadors" project to help make that happen. If you're interested, you can read more about that project here.
