I'm surprised it took me this long but huhuhu CoD/Pacific Rim AU idea dump time:
The OG Pacific Rim crew still exists because the idea of both Marshall Price and Marshall Pentecost existing in the same universe tickles me.
Price and MacMillan were co-pilots (Jaeger: Pendragon Fury), up until MacMillan lost his leg when a Kaiju tore through their Jaeger. MacMillan was retired and promoted into a senior position within the PPDC running interference for the UK government. Price was promoted to Marshall, to the terror of every Shatterdome he was put in command of.
Gaz and Soap were the two most promising cadets of their respective years; unfortunately despite promising stats in the Kwoon they were unable to form a full handshake with anyone, and were instead moved laterally to other positions within the Jaeger program (they tried to drift with each other once but to their disappointment they were only partially compatible).
Gaz became part of Loccent, handpicked personally by Price to be a part of his main administrative team. He was trained by Laswell to eventually be the head controller.
Soap moved into the Jaeger academy to become a Kwoon Fightmaster, where he was credited for having a knack in pairing up cadets with strong neural link results.
Farah and Hadir were saved by Price and MacMillan when they were children; Price kept a close eye on them after and supported their respective careers within the Jaeger Program.
To everyone's surprise Farah and Hadir were unable to drift with each other, Farah instead having a successful drift with Alex and forming an Arab/American Jaeger team (Jaeger: Defiant Gray). Hadir became a Jumphawk pilot, promising to fly his sister's Jaeger in and out of every fight.
Other notable pilot pairings are Alejandro and Rudolfo forming the Mexican team (Jaeger: Vaqueros Black), with Horangi and Konig being another intercountry team representing Austria and South Korea (Jaeger: Tempest Monarch). Near the end as Shatterdomes around the world were shut down their Jaeger teams moved to join Price as he made his last stand in the Panama Shatterdome.
Now that I've gotten my technical yapping out of the way, we shall move on to the juicy parts:
Due to a severe cut to their resources, the Panama Shatterdome which was once able to house over 20 Jaegers was whittled down to only being able to hold 4. Two bays were given to the only functioning Jaegers left outside of the HK Shatterdome batch, Vaqueros Black and Tempest Monarch. MacMillan managed to negotiate a deal with the UK government to ship over the remains of Pendragon Fury and Rising Stampede.
Rising Stampede belonged to Roach and Ghost, one of UK’s inactive Jaeger teams.
After Roach’s death, Ghost disappeared from public scrutiny and during the events of Pacific Rim was found working at a Scottish factory that made parts for the Anti-Kaiju Wall.
Price personally hunted him down to bring him back into the Jaeger program; Price had intended to pool together whatever remaining resources he could gather to fix up Pendragon Fury and Rising Stampede in order to support Vaqueros Black and Tempest Monarch.
Before the events of Pacific Rim, Price made the call to become a pilot again, and begin transitioning his duties as Marshall over to Laswell. To no one’s surprise, after going 4/0 against the entire current cadet roster he finally came to a 4/4 with Gaz after Soap snuck his name into the Kwoon fight list.
Ghost was dragged reluctantly to Panama, where after throwing the entire cadet list and some at him, Soap finally lost his temper at Ghost’s antipathetic response on the mats and entered himself into the fray. They came to a rather dramatic 4/3 end, with Ghost stomping away and Soap feeling conflicted by the results.
I really, really want to go into more detail about the Pricegaz and Soapghost drift but if I do that I might as well publish this whole post as a fic on ao3 lmao. I shall be posting art for this as a reward for myself after finishing the year with a very tiring project, and maybe I might even try to write a few lines for this > <
