Buck squints at him, a teasing grin on his face. “Are you drunk, Eddie?”
“No,” Eddie says, but something that sounds a lot like a giggle spills from his lips. Whether that’s from the alcohol or the way he is stupid over Buck isn’t clear.
Buck’s grin widens. “Mhmm, sure.”
“I’m not,” Eddie insists and tries shoving at Buck’s chest, to no avail. He drops his hand, but it somehow gets caught in the fabric of Buck’s sweater at his waist, and he ends up kind of holding on to it.
Buck’s grin softens into a smile that Eddie answers with one of his own. And then he spots it, right over Buck’s head: mistletoe.

When Buck strands in the snowy small town Pine Creek, he doesn’t expect to stay long. But he also doesn’t expect the people he meets there, most of all the quiet single dad who runs the town’s coffee shop.
you know i’m always up for for snippets 🥰🌹🌹🌹 - @buckactuallys
anything for u, pia!!! 💖 here's a little bit of the coyote ugly au 😘
Eddie drives to his Abuela’s once he leaves the firehouse. His mouth is still tingling when he pulls up in front of her house. He can’t believe he did that – can’t believe he somehow found the bravery from somewhere deep inside him to turn around and kiss Buck before he lost his chance.
He feels- weirdly proud of himself.
And giddy. More giddy than any thirty year old man has any right to be.
send me a “🌹” and i’ll post one random sentence of a random WIP i’m currently writing
i’m obsessed with everything you’ve shared already, but tell me something about “she tastes like you, only sweeter”? – @buckactuallys
omg thank u and thank u Again for asking about this one, my secret little self indulgent disaster fic. i have written 0 words for it but the concept is eddie and buck hook up in treasure hunt, but decide it's a one time thing + the shooting and everything still leads to BT and the 5a buddie distance. fic opens with the BL kiss in 5x11, but BT explodes/breaks up and buck spirals/BL start up a fwb thing while buddie ALSO start up a fwb thing (i came up with this before we knew the trajectory of eddie's breakdown so i'd def change things up there to make buddie fwb...plausible), which eddie and lucy are both Aware of. and also eddie may or may not be sleeping around too. so basically it's just Ultimate mess Ultimate buck spiral, and obv it ends with buddie. but my fav part of the outline:
dispatch fire BIGGG mess with eddie lucy buck; ravi watching like it’s bad girls club
The time has come, and I can finally post the podfic for “darker days, brighter endings” by @buckactuallys!
This podfic fought me every step of the way. It was meant to go up weeks ago, but it wanted to be a huge pain for me to finish. But it’s finally done. Or as done as it’s gonna be. 😂
It’s a post-S4 recovery fic, so I really wanted it up BEFORE this season, but alas. I’m late. 😭
Buck blames the alcohol in his system for the fact that, when faced with two girls hitting on him at the bar, what comes out of his mouth is, “I have a boyfriend.”
Because he doesn’t. It’s a lie, and no matter how much he wishes the man waiting for him at the booth in the corner was his, he is very, painfully single.
The blonde raises her eyebrows. “Really? I don’t see him.”
Buck turns back to look in the direction of their table, and he’s not sure if he’s relieved or nervous to see Eddie sliding out of his seat and making his way over to them. Either way, there’s a lump in his throat, and he really hopes it disappears before he chokes out another idiotic lie.
Eddie steps into place beside Buck, looking back and forth between him and the two girls expectantly. “Hey. Who are your friends?”
Buck stammers. “Uh, these are-”
“Kara,” the blonde says with a smile. She gestures to her friend. “And this is Cassidy.”
“Right,” Buck confirms with a nod. “And uh, ladies, this is, Eddie-” he catches Eddie’s eye, and desperately hopes his gaze is saying everything it needs to. “-my boyfriend.”
Eddie’s eyebrows raise for a fraction of a second, before he seems to catch on; slides an arm around Buck’s waist and pulls him closer, and Buck really doesn’t want to think about how easy it is for them to fall into these roles. “Nice to meet you both,” he says pleasantly.
Cassidy smiles. “Date night for you two, huh?”
Eddie turns his head to look at Buck, and he is very, very close. “One year anniversary, actually,” he says, and oh, he’s really going for it.
“Oh, wow, congrats. Big milestone,” Kara says.
Eddie hums in acknowledgement, but he’s still got his attention focused solely on Buck. There’s a look in his eyes that Buck can’t quite place, and it’s throwing him off to not be able to read the expressions he normally knows so well.
“The biggest,” Eddie says quietly, and he’s leaning closer, and closer, and Buck feels his heart skip a beat in his chest at the first brush of lips against his.
The kiss deepens, and he knows that from an outsider, this would look like a normal kiss between a couple, but his insides are a war of stop before this goes too far and take it while you can because it’s all you’re ever going to get and he doesn’t know which way to turn.
The latter side wins, and he melts into it. The kiss is wonderful, and all-consuming, but there’s an ache to it too; knowing that this is temporary -all for show. When these girls eventually walk away, they’ll pull away from each other’s spaces and go back to separate people, separate bodies; go home to their own houses. They’ll return to being nothing but friends, and the word leaves a bitter taste in his mouth that replaces the taste of Eddie.
Though half of him wants to stay in that moment forever and never face the consequences, he pulls away. He’s met with that same unrecognisable look in Eddie’s eyes, and it makes him want to crawl inside and figure out what’s going on in his head.
“Well,” Kara says, breaking their bubble. “You two have a nice night. Congratulations.” Cassidy gives them a small wave and then the girls disappear, leaving them alone.
Eddie clears his throat and steps back.
“It’s getting late,” Buck says quickly, without even looking at his watch. “We should probably get going.”
Eddie hesitates, like he wants to say more, but nods instead. “Right. I guess so. You still need a ride?”
And while Buck dreads the silence that will fill the trip home, they’d only taken one car, and it would only make things even more awkward to call an Uber. So he nods.
The ride back to his apartment is barely ten minutes, but it feels like an eternity as the only sound that passes between them is the faint music coming from the car radio.
He hates it. Hates the fact that neither of them are brave enough to reach out and touch what just happened; that of all the things they’ve gotten through by communicating, this one trivial thing is what makes them go silent. He especially hates the fact that he can’t help but feel like it’s all his fault.
He mutters out an awkward goodbye when they make it to his apartment building. Eddie doesn’t walk him in.
He unlocks the door and closes it behind him, leaning his head back against it as he closes his eyes. He lets out a sigh, and all the words he didn’t say in the car swim around in his head.
He feels like an idiot. Why couldn’t he have just rejected the girls to begin with? Why did he have to make up a ridiculous lie to save himself?
But then again, why had Eddie fallen into it so easily? Why had he taken it farther than it needed to? Why had he leaned in and kissed him, like it was natural; like he’d done it a million times before?
He doesn’t have a chance to come up with an answer before there’s a knock at his door, and he swings it open to find Eddie standing there, looking on the verge of a crisis.
“Hey, did I forget something in your car-?”
“Why did you lie to them?” Eddie asks immediately.
“Uh, what-?”
“The girls that were hitting on you. Why did you lie?”
Buck swallows. Wants to deflect, make up another lie to conceal the truth of what he really wants; to protect himself and the heart that it’s buried in. But he knows his hesitation is almost an answer in itself, and he’s had enough of pretending.
“Because I wanted it to be true.”
That’s all Eddie needs before he surges forward and kisses him again, and this kiss is so different from the last. It’s not casual, or soft. It’s filled with passion and urgency and every word they have yet to say to each other out loud. But Buck melts into it just the same. Places a hand on Eddie’s neck to pull him impossibly closer, because he knows that this one isn’t as temporary as the last.
This one is a first of many.
Eddie pulls away, breathless. “I want it too. All of it.”
Buck grins. “Thank god.”
Eddie pulls him in again, and it’s just as perfect as the one before.
wait for me to come home
eddie/buck, established, a little mature rating here ish :)
Buck’s exhausted, sore from constant movement, and a headache blossoming in the back of his head. He can’t wait to eat something, shower, and sleep through until late morning. He closes the door quietly behind him, not wanting to wake anybody up, and kicks off his shoes. He frowns, the TV on low in the living room and when he pokes his head around the corner, he can see Eddie on the couch.
“Eddie?”
Eddie rolls his head along the couch, smiling slightly. “Hey.”
“Shouldn’t you be asleep?" Buck asks, leaning down to press a kiss to Eddie's forehead.
Eddie mumbles something. When Buck pulls away, he reaches up, grabs a hold of one of the strings on Buck's hoodie. "Waiting for you."
In fact, Eddie is mostly asleep, lazily tugging Buck down and kissing him softly.
"Missed you," Eddie says. Up close, his eyes are strikingly gorgeous.
Buck rubs a thumb over Eddie's cheek. "You too. Come on, Eds. Time for bed."
“Eat first,” Eddie says, resting a hand on Buck’s chest. “Made dinner.”
“You did?” Buck asks, unable to stop himself.
Eddie scowls. “Not nice.”
Buck smiles, kissing Eddie again and then tugging him up to his feet. Eddie sighs, leans in, head resting against Buck’s shoulder. Buck runs a hand through his hair, kisses him gently. “I’ll eat when you’re in bed.”
“S’cold,” Eddie complains, but he lets Buck lead him down the hall by the hand, fingers curling into Buck’s tight. He holds on, even when Buck tries to leave. Eddie looks at him, eyes narrowed, then reaches up to his face, fingers resting against his jaw. “You’re hurt.”
“Just a bruise,” Buck assures him. “Last call.”
Eddie leans in, kisses the aching skin, and then Buck’s lips, lingering. “Eat and come to bed.”
“After a shower,” Buck says, touching their foreheads together. Eddie breathes out, eyes slipping closed, and Buck can’t help but smile. “Don’t fall asleep standing up, idiot.”
Eddie shakes his head, opening one eye. “Fine. Hurry up.”
“You don’t own me,” Buck says, pulling himself away from Eddie reluctantly. He doesn’t want to, but his stomach rumbles and he feels gross. He doesn’t wanna climb into bed feeling like he does.
“Actually,” Eddie says, finding some energy and slipping his hands around Buck’s hips. “I think I have more control over you than you think I do.”
Buck shivers at Eddie’s lips on his neck and he leans back, Eddie’s nose against his neck, trailing up towards his ear. “Eddie.”
“Eat,” Eddie prompts. “I’ll start the shower.”
Turning in Eddie’s arms, Buck shakes his head. “Five minutes ago, you were almost asleep.”
“Then you came home,” Eddie says, grinning. Buck wants to roll his eyes, but Eddie being happy is always something Buck appreciates.
“I guess,” Buck says, leaning in for a kiss. “Fine, shower. Then we’ll see who’s in control.”
Eddie’s eyes darken and he licks his bottom lip.
Buck squeezes Eddie’s ass, laughing when Eddie shoves him away. He looks back over his shoulder, not wanting to speak louder in case he wakes Chris, but Eddie says, “I love you,” just loud enough to be heard, and reaches down, cupping himself through his sweats.
So fucking rude. “Eddie,” Buck says, dragging his eyes up to Eddie’s face. “If you want me to say it back, let me eat first.”
Eddie smirks, rubbing himself through his sweats and then pulls his hand away, but not before Buck sees the flicker of want that crosses his face.
“I love you,” Buck breathes, overwhelmed with it.
Eddie’s smile is soft and dirty all at once, a dichotomy he manages with ease, and leans against the doorjamb. “Be quick, Evan.”
You can’t just do things like this, Pia. i might or might not write two different things for this cause i couldn’t decide lmao
.
“You know, from all the people to be stuck with in a tin can hurtling through space over 250 miles above Earth, you’re not all that bad, Diaz,” Buck says, trying to contain his smile.
“You’re only saying this cause I shared my spicy chicken with you today, aren’t you?” Eddie raises an eyebrow at him, the look on his face far from annoyed but Buck doesn’t dare to try and decipher it.
A tired sigh comes from somewhere behind them and when Buck turns, he sees Bobby, floating through the module and giving t hem a pointed look, “Boys, please — those filters aren’t going to clean themselves and I’m pretty sure there’s a policy against giving your commander a hard time.”
