Fast! retrospective, a reader's choice
As promised, here's a look at a reader's favourite scene from the Future Free! Motor Racing AU, and actually, it wasn't on my list. This doesn't mean I didn't like it, in fact I do, it’s a great choice, but I decided to pick 10...
Other shout-outs are possible, just let me know!
ajdhdjsh so my conscientious relaxation professor is the swim coach, right?, and he was saying how for one of our classes we could come with him to one of the swim practices and hang out in an empty lane and heckle the swimmers as they practiced and i just. I used to swim and wasn't very good so on my big swim team they put me and like 4 other eh swimmers in the end lane and we got like. no supervision so we would just. heckle the good swimmers. it'd've been more fun if practice wasn't at 5 in the morning before school but what can you do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so not only is my roommate the loudest snorer in the world but he’s also the loudest eater and drinker and every little noise is scraping against my skull like knife
she will grow up more clever than you are
ESRT’s season so far
I could have written some reports to keep you posted on how the 2017 AERS headcanons are going, but yeah, I’ve been alternating lazy and busy. Anyway, here’s the timeline since the Fast! THIRD GEAR birthdays!
11-12 Feb: Eternal Summer Racing Team drivers visit Team Rocket’s base in the Sevii Islands, and the factory Maserati team’s facilities. Joint physical preparation and seat fittings.
5 Mar: Ties Sports Co. and Sports Zero stores announce a tour of ESRT’s car in a few shops at the end of the month, from 25 Mar to 4 Apr. The tour begins with a display at the 3rd Iwatobi-cho Motor Festival on 25 Mar.
19 Mar: Tsukuba Anime Test. Aiichiro is the driver for the shakedown of the Maserati. He gets to name the chassis: it is dubbed The Swan, because “it’s white, graceful, and it bites”. The car runs with no major issues during the test day, with Ai, Nagisa, Momo, and reserve driver Sosuke sharing the driving time.
25 Mar: Iwatobi Town Motor Festival. The Iwatobi and Samezuka drivers take part in a go-kart tournament; Haru defeats Rin, Nagisa and Momo in the final. The events of Chapter 34 of FastER! take place immediately after this.
10 Apr: following backstroke success at the National level, it is announced that Momo will skip the US round of the championship to participate in international tournaments in the Summer. He will be replaced by Sosuke.
16 Apr: AERS round 1, Spa-Francorchamps 1000 km. With Ai, Momo and Nagisa driving, ESRT scores a top 10 on its racing debut.
27 Apr: Nordschleife Time Trial. ESRT drivers place very well in the now traditional pre-Germany contest, with Nagisa 7th (having won the previous year), and Momo 12th.
30 Apr: AERS round 2, Nürburgring 1000 km. Another top 10 means more points for ESRT! The privateer team confirms it is the first-placed Maserati squad in the standings.
30 Jun: Nagisa qualifies on the front row for the Road America 6 Hours! He dedicates the second place to Haru, on his birthday.
1 Jul: AERS round 3, Road America 6 Hours. Nagisa’s great grid position sadly does not translate into a great result, as Sosuke is punted off during the race. A finish, but no points.
"The team has worked very hard, and obtained reasons for satisfaction at every race. Now we have another long break before the gruelling Le Mans section of the season, starting late August. We’ll be back fighting!”
Matsuoka Gou, manager, ESRT.
