Fate Foretold Official Preview: The Art of Tact
Welcome to the first-ever Tumblr official spoiler for Fate Foretold! We’re previewing two cards for you all today: The Lovers and The Whisperer. These are two very different cards, but they’re tied together by something very specific- how they interact with other players. They’re both very powerful, but more importantly, they’re both hard to play right. So let’s get into it and see how you can have an edge up against your friends once your deck arrives!
The Lovers asks you to fall in love with another player- choosing someone to share both your good times (drawing cards) and bad times (discarding cards). Inherently, you’ll be drawing a lot more than you’ll be discarding, so this card is very much a “choose another player to help” kind of card, but it can be used a lot more interestingly when combined with other cards. Fate Foretold has lots of effects that ask players to draw and discard, so The Lovers can also be a liability, especially at the end of the game when you don’t want to be drawing more cards. Using it offensively as well is something a lot of players won’t think of. Even better: if you can use it to stop an opponent from winning but make them think you were trying to help!
The Whisperer lets you trade secrets (cards) with another player each turn. Often times this card ends with players trading their worst card for their opponent’s worst card, but it can also be a bargaining chip. Offer your opponent something you know they need to complete their alignment to a suit, for example, in return for a favor in dealing with another pesky problem on a field. You can also use it in conjunction with other cards that ask you to know what cards are in your opponent’s hand!
The power of these cards will become more apparent as more spoilers drop, but check us out on other social media to see more cards, and as always, on FateForetold.com! What are some of your plans with The Lovers and The Whisperer?
