Happy Fat Thursday! 🍩🍩🍩
Definitely my favorite holiday
trick or treat!!!
Hey and hi! For a Dziady treat you will get faworek or chrust/chruścik (chrust means brushwood lol, it's feather-light and yummy!)
We came to Dziady
Not for the prayers and the feast,
We don't need a memorial mass
Not for pączki, milks, or chrusty
(Dziady II, Adam Mickiewicz)
2 cups of flour
4 egg yolks
5 spoons of creme fraiche
1 spoon of powdered sugar
pinch of salt
1 shot of vodka (optional)
lots of oil (for frying)
Mix all of ingredients (except oil)
You can the shot at any time
You can also add it to the dough
It's gonna be hard, but you got this
Mix with your hands
Once smooth and nice, flatten it with a rolling pin (or your other tool of choice)
Must be very very thin!
Cut in stripes (about half a finger wide)
Cut a vertical line in the middle
Pull one end through the hole (important! It's to make it look fancy!)
Deep fry until golden (which can take anything between 10 to 30 seconds)
Dry on a paper towel or in a sieve
Sprinkle with powdered sugar
Enjoy one of plenty traditional Fat Thursday dishes

Fat Thursday
Today is the best Thursday in the year! It’s Fat Thursday!!!
Traditionaly it’s the last Thursday before fasting. And to celebrate it, we eat. We eat donuts and faworki. And for a person like me who loves any kind of sweets it’s the best day ever!
So, happy Fat Thursday everyone!
‘Angel wings’ – known in Polish as aniołki, faworki or chruściki – are a traditional pastry that’s deliciously sweet, light & satisfyingly crunchy. They are usually shaped into thin twisted ribbons, deep-fried then sprinkled with powdered sugar.
