F-COMEDY Will Tap Both Seasoned and Rising Comedic Talent to Create High Quality, Multiplatform Video Content
Fusion today announced the launch of F-COMEDY, a digital studio for comedy which will produce topical short-form content for a young, multicultural audience that could be developed into other formats including long-form comedy series, comedy news-talk shows and more.
F-COMEDY will allow Fusion to collaborate with YouTube creators as well as established and up-and-coming talent from its partners including the Upright Citizens Brigade, the widely recognized home to some of today's funniest actors and writers, NYC-based The Stand, and WIT.tv. Fusion will have a production residency at YouTube Spaces in Los Angeles, giving F-COMEDY access to state-of-the-art equipment, stages, post-production facilities, YouTube specialists and more. The shorts from F-COMEDY will premiere on the F-COMEDY YouTube channel and be featured across Fusion’s social, digital, OTT and cable platforms.
“We have understood from the beginning that comedy and satire are incredibly powerful tools to connect with our target audience and that it must be at the core of our content offering,” said Fusion CEO Isaac Lee. “We know that traditional methods of identifying talent and delivering content are changing every day, and our comedy studio brings together leaders in comedy and short-form storytelling arenas to generate content that informs and provokes while also being highly entertaining.”
3 Arts Entertainment will serve as advisors to F-COMEDY. 3 Arts is known for producing hit series such as "Silicon Valley," “Broad City,” “The Mindy Project,” and “Parks and Recreation” as well as managing top comedic talent including Louis C.K., Amy Poehler, Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Tina Fey, and Mindy Kaling, among others.
Since its inception Fusion has experimented with different ways to use humor to connect with its audience. Fusion's topical comedy show “No, You Shut Up!” hosted by Paul F. Tompkins was named one of the "10 TV Shows You Need to Be Watching in 2015" by Rolling Stone. “The Chris Gethard Show," which premiered last month on Fusion and is helmed by Upright Citizens Brigade alum Chris Gethard, has already received critical acclaim. "[Gethard] is poised to shake up late night the same way David Letterman did more than 33 years ago," said VICE. "The Chris Gethard Show is insane, immature, brutally honest and unlike anything you have ever seen," Playboy noted. Fusion also tapped “The Daily Show” Latino Correspondent Al Madrigal for a special on identity called “Half Like Me.”
